I know. It seems like it would cost a fortune to maintain those estates.
However, re the "Downton Abbey" series: I saw a story that said a man, his wife, and only one domestic help person now live in the house. They got a lot of TV money, but it still seems it would take a lot more people to maintain the place.
A lot of those big royal estates are working farms or other profit-making businesses.
