I'm sure that you are also aware that many Japanese military leaders tried to persuade against bombing Peral Harbor, because they feared that awakening the sleeping giant and bringing them into the conflict would be a serious mistake.
The decision to drop nuclear weapons was the correct decision because it ended the war, while the bombing of Pearl Harbor was the major mistake that changed the entre course of WWII. 🙂👍

But I also note that In addition, we forewarned them and our own war planners as to the damage potential that these bombs possessed. They both chose to reject that warning as being nothing more than bluster.
Without the horrific examples of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the war planners would still be dismissing the forewarning right up until they were actually used on real cities and real people. A paper opinion report is a lot easier to ignore than mass graves which are still easier to ignore than real people writhing in hospitals or in public horribly scared and crippled.
