Jill Sobule, the singer of the groundbreaking 1995 hit “I Kissed a Girl,” has tragically died.
The musician and songwriter perished in a Minneapolis house fire early Thursday morning, several of her former colleagues confirmed to The Post. Sobule was 66.
She became a household name with “I Kissed a Girl,” which is widely viewed as the first openly gay-themed tune to make it into the Billboard Top 20. Millennials will know Sobule for her song “Supermodel,” which was featured in the 1995 coming-of-age teen classic film “Clueless.”

I remember the song said something like "I might do it again" so it was hardly a lesbian rallying cry.
I just looked up the lyrics, and both the girls kissing were dating men, so it was cheating.

Did she spend her final years as a packrat hoarder cat-lady type?

If it was a lesbian anthem, why does it say, “and I may do it again?”
To: nickcarraway
Dunno - I only maybe heard 15 seconds of the song since it was released - never paid attention
There’s already several articles it appears

“**The Future is Queer**”How does that even make sense logically? Can Queers reproduce now?
If not, where is "the future"?

Same title but different song. Sobule’s song was thirteen years earlier too.

The Kinks' "Lola" made it to #9 in 1971.
"I'm glad I'm a man and so is Lola."
sounds pretty openly queer to me.
My mother made my big brother return the 45 to the record store.

Jill Sobule ripped off Katy Perry.
[This is a joke, since the Katy Perry song came out more than a decade later.]
