Not a big baseball fan, but I think Pete Rose should be in the hall of fame.

An idiot article from an idiot site- the author looks like he’s 13YO...

I agree Rose deserves to be in the HOF but what crime did he commit that he needs a presidential pardon?

The MLB HOF is not controlled by MLB. I’d guess the HOF Board isn’t fond of Manfred.

I think this whole issue regarding Pete Rose has more to do with who he was versus what he did. Isn’t taking steroids’ cheating? How many ball players are in the Hall of Fame who juiced. Bath Ruth juiced on hot dogs and beer.

Agreed. The NFL (rightly) did not revoke O.J. Simpson's status. The HoF status recognizes performance as a player/manager/owner/broadcaster, etc. As a former Dodger fan, I had no use for the Reds/Phillies Rose, and he was a bit too much of a self-promoter for my taste ( I would have rather had Joe Morgan on my team), BUT his accomplishments are unquestionable. He was a larger than life personality with the performance to back it up. The story of baseball cannotbe told without Pete Rose.

When Manfred pulled the All-Star Game from Atlanta in ‘21 I knew he was a chump. I still can’t stand the guy.

I don’t know. What’s the over/under? 😄

Now that betting parlors are the sponsors of major league sports, it seems a little silly to have punished a guy for betting his own team would win.

So... what's the over/under from legalized sportsball betting such such as Caesars Sportsbook, FanDuel, DraftKings, etc. giving on someone denied entry into the Hall of Fame for sports gambling, on actually getting into the Hall of Fame?

Over / under on the number of attempts?

Over / under on a Presidential pardon?

Over / under on if it will be Q2, Q3, Q4, or next year?

I do know that when I watch baseball these days I think mostly of Pete Rose every time a batter steps up to the plate. That beats some Hall of Fame remedy in my book.

Pete Rose owns the game IMHO in contrast to Rob Manfred.

I've told y'all I have a family member who played for the Braves and then the Reds. I think it was 1980, I had a baseball signed by the entire Cincinnati Reds...

EXCEPT Pete Rose.

So I've always thought he was an asshole. And I don't really care if he gets in the Hall of Fame or not.

Johnny Bench, a legitimate Hall of Famer, became good friends with my mom. She had a book that he signed.

Even if the ban from baseball is lifted, he still may not be in the hall of fame. Being elected to the hall is a completely separate procedure from reinstating him into baseball. Some hall of fame voters could still vote against him being elected.

Before that is done, I would like to see a possible exoneration of Shoeless Joe Jackson and for him to be in the Hall of Fame.

Pete’s van has nothing to do with “crimes.”

He violated the cardinal rule of professional baseball. He got a lifetime ban. His life is over. MLB could rule tomorrow to reinstate him.

Great ball player. Kind of a dirtbag guy.

Pete Rose was an ass-home and a giant douche but he was one of the great players of all time. Your personality doesn’t get you in or prevent you from the HoF. Let him in!

Doesn’t matter if he gets pardoned. He did the deed. Of course I guess his lifetime ban is now done. So they can put him in the Hall, but his display should contain the report. It’s part of his story, and the story of baseball. He broke the BIG RULE, that was posted next to the phone he used sometimes to break the freaking rule.

I think he served his lifetime ban and was denied witnessing and experiencing being elected. Debt paid. Same with Joe Jackson.

Steroid guys... No.

Ty Cobb and Babe Ruth weren't exactly the Virgin Mary.

They didn’t do what Rose did… namely betting on baseball which is the biggest no the game has. Not only did he bet on games, he bet on games his team was playing in, and even after being caught red handed, he lied about it for 20 years before finally admitting the truth.

Rose still has all his records… he’s in the record books. But he does not deserve the honor of the Hall of Fame.

Shohei Ohtani is still in the league so Pete should be in the HOF by now.
