"Vladimir, STOP! Lets get the Peace Deal DONE!" Trump wrote on his Truth Social account on Thursday.
He said in a post Friday that after a "good day in talks and meetings with Russia and Ukraine" they "are very close to a deal, and the two sides should now meet, at very high levels, to 'finish it off.'"
"Most of the major points are agreed to. Stop the bloodshed, NOW," Trump added.
Driving the news: Putin's advisers Yuri Ushakov and Kirill Dmitriev also attended the meeting.
Ushakov said in a briefing with reporters that the meeting was "constructive and useful."
He added that the meeting brought the U.S. and Russia "closer together" on Ukraine and other issues.
Ushakov said Putin discussed with Witkoff the possibility of resuming direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.

Zelensky outright rejected parts of Trump's plan, such as recognition of Crimea as Russian.
However, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claimed Russia is ready to make a deal and just requires some elements of the proposal to be "fine-tuned."
Zoom in: Trump posted on Truth Social that Zelensky had yet to sign the planned minerals deal with the U.S., which he said was now "at least three weeks late."

Thank you very much and God bless you.
My guess is that both sides will tentatively agree to some de facto borders but not de jure borders. If it brings the fighting to an end, it would at least be a start.
Here are the Instanbul Protocol terms from the 2022 negotiations:
The parties’ desire to resolve issues related to Crimea and Sevastopol shall be committed to bilateral negotiations between Ukraine and Russia for a period of 15 years. Ukraine and Russia also pledge not to resolve these issues by military means and to continue diplomatic resolution efforts.
More from Istanbul Protocol terms from 2022:
These international security guarantees for Ukraine would not extend to Crimea, Sevastopol, or certain areas of the Donbas. The parties to the agreement would need to define the boundaries of these regions or agree that each party understands these boundaries differently.
More:
Ukraine vows not to join any military coalitions or host any foreign military bases or troop contingents. Any international military exercises would be possible only with the consent of the guarantor-states. For their part, these guarantors confirm their intention to promote Ukraine’s membership in the European Union.
More from 2022 negotiations:
The parties shall continue consultations (with the involvement of other guarantor-states) to prepare and agree on the provisions of a Treaty on Security Guarantees for Ukraine, ceasefire modalities, the withdrawal of troops and other paramilitary formations, and the opening and ensuring of safe-functioning humanitarian corridors on an ongoing basis, as well as the exchange of dead bodies and the release of prisoners of war and interned civilians.
The parties consider it possible to hold a meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and Russia for the purpose of signing a treaty and/or adopting political decisions regarding other remaining unresolved issues.
More from 2022:
The treaty provisionally applies from the date it is signed by Ukraine and all or most guarantor-states. The treaty enters force after (1) Ukraine’s permanently neutral status is approved in a nationwide referendum, (2) the introduction of the appropriate amendments in Ukraine’s Constitution, and (3) ratification in the parliaments of Ukraine and the guarantor-states.

Not really, as it means that the war restarts in a few years, this time with Ukraine in NATO. If Putin has to settle for that short term outcome, he’ll have to first take Odessa, at least if he doesn’t want to see a firing squad in Moscow. So, probably another 2 months to 1 year of fighting, depending on how much support the US gives Ukraine.
NATO secretary general said today on Fox News, Crimes will be accepted as occupied and will have Russian control.
CRIMEA not crimes.
Bloody auto-correct lacks intelligence.
War will not start again after AMERICAN outfits and personnel are stationed inside Ukraine.
Mark Rutte, NATO Secretary General, stated that recognising the occupation of Crimea is not equivalent to its legal recognition as part of Russia.
Rutte referenced the example of the Baltic countries, which were controlled by the USSR but were never legally recognised as part of it by the U.S. and the world.
“War will not start again after AMERICAN outfits and personnel are stationed inside Ukraine.”
Good luck getting Trump to do something that STUPID.
Not American troops. But the proposal was that Americans would run the electricity plant that will supply both Ukraine and Russia. That puts American skin in the game as a deterrent to Russian aggression.

I cannot see these types of schemes with the US inserting itself in the middle of these two militaries as anything realistic - just won’t happen.
Nuh-uh.
Let the Limeys and the Frogs do it.
They can let the Krauts come along too if they want...
