I heard that these mosquitoes tend to feed within a couple of feet of the ground, so wear long pants and use a DEET-containing insect repellent.

They showed up in the Tucson area at least 25 years ago, but I hardly ever see any.

Report “day biting mosquitos?”

I experienced morning biting mosqitos in Canada...and their bite was painful...and this was 25 years ago.

Ya. Im outside the supposed zone of these things and I dont remember a time that mosquitos didnt bite in the day. I mean, not so much on short grass away from vegetation in direct sun obviously but if you headed into the shade of a forested bog for fishing and wildcrafting they would show up right along with the deer flies.
