“Hey, Grandpa..., what’s fer dinner?”
If only Grandpa Jones could see the modern-day democrat party, he’d sing a different tune.
Great one. Thx!
I also like the versions by Lulubelle & Scotty and Carson Robison, also from 1952.
Thanks for posting this. I remember it from a long, long time ago. It’s too bad we ignored Grandpa’s advice over the past 75 years.
Grandpa Jones mentions the House and Senate investigations of Soviet espionage and subversion, the Truman scandals (”taking bribes and dressing up their wives in mink”), inflation, and government overreach (”our government is bigger than it ever was today”)—the same sort of Democrat-generated problems that bedevil us today.
I met his daughter, Alisa, when we were kids. She was staying with our next door neighbor for a short time. I’m not sure why. I don’t know if she’d remember me or not. We were pretty young. We played with dolls and climbed trees. She talked about her home in the holler. I didn’t know what a holler was at the time. I thought he was her Grandpa but he was really her father. As a kid, that was confusing. Why would you call someone Grandpa if he was your Dad? It’s still a funny thing to remember.
He sure was right on the money
I had never heard that before. It’s great!!
