TRUMP: Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is boasting on the front page of The Wall Street Journal that, “Ukraine will not legally recognize the occupation of Crimea. There’s nothing to talk about here.” This statement is very harmful to the Peace Negotiations with Russia in that Crimea was lost years ago under the auspices of President Barack Hussein Obama, and is not even a point of discussion. Nobody is asking Zelenskyy to recognize Crimea as Russian Territory but, if he wants Crimea, why didn’t they fight for it eleven years ago when it was handed over to Russia without a shot being fired? The area also houses, for many years before “the Obama handover,” major Russian submarine bases. It’s inflammatory statements like Zelenskyy’s that makes it so difficult to settle this War. He has nothing to boast about! The situation for Ukraine is dire — He can have Peace or, he can fight for another three years before losing the whole Country. I have nothing to do with Russia, but have much to do with wanting to save, on average, five thousand Russian and Ukrainian soldiers a week, who are dying for no reason whatsoever. The statement made by Zelenskyy today will do nothing but prolong the “killing field,” and nobody wants that! We are very close to a Deal, but the man with “no cards to play” should now, finally, GET IT DONE. I look forward to being able to help Ukraine, and Russia, get out of this Complete and Total MESS, that would have never started if I were President!
The Ukraine has two choices -
One is to acknowledge that they have lost the war and cut their losses to stop the killing and focus on rebuilding and recovery. If they go this route, Trump as a plan that he has publicly stated gives the Ukraine the ability to come of of this war in a remarkably good position.
The second is to keep fighting to the bitter end in a futile, Hitleresque Götterdämmerung that leaves another million dead or crippled, the Ukraine devastated and praying for a Trump Marshall Plan II that no longer is on the table. Then the Ukraine can say hello to their new carpet bagging EU overlords and their overlords 8 million new Afghani, Pakistani and African Islamic demographic replacers.
Which do you prefer?
I'm kind of leaning towards option one as the better of the two options, but what do I know.
“Occupation”? More a re-occupation. Crimea as part of Ukraine is a relic of how the USSR was run. Khrushchev shuffled the border in 1954 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Cossacks declaring allegiance to Russia and the Czar. And maybe to symbolically compensate for Stalin’s Ukrainian genocide of the 1930’s. Khrushchev himself was born a few kilometers from the Ukrainian border, grew up in the Donbas, and administered the Ukraine under Stalin. So, he was nearly as much a Ukrainian as a Russian. It is historically Russian and its location and ports on the Black Sea are strategically critical to Moscow. That’s the reality. If anything on the Russian side is non-negotiable, it’s Crimea.
Thinking of taking the family to see the long and storied Crimea, Russia. 🤣
You seem to have missed the point of Trump’s policy. He senses that global reliance on the “US as the indispensable country” is not sustainable. In contrast to predecessors, Trump does not seem to want US global hegemony (admittedly, his desire to devour Greenland contradicts this point, but I do not accuse him of consistency). The US itself has engendered “learned dependence” among its allies, both militarily and economically. Both sides created this to address post-WWII and Cold War conditions that no longer exist. It’s time for a new paradigm. He wants Europe to deal with and pay for its defense, and for all nations to have economic strategies beyond running trade surpluses with the US.
European nations are not wrong to fear that Russian success in subduing Ukraine by force could/will embolden Russia to attempt to intimidate or even seize other neighbors. By all means, please step up and deal with the Ukraine situation with vigor, and develop defense capabilites that do not rely on the US contributing much. Get yourselves free of US domestic politics, which render US foreign policy cyclic and unreliable. The doing of it will present a massive learnng curve and leave Europe stronger and more capable, and the US less “indispensable”.
Putin has placed Ukraine on deaths ground. He has repeatedly stated Ukraine cannot exist independent of Russia. If there is a peace deal, Putin will definitely invade again correcting many of his initial mistakes, which would end up more devastating than the current conflict, so Ukraine wants real security guarantees.
Since you are one of those who will cause the next war I will leave you with the opportunity.
And why isn’t the EU giving them security guarantees? Why will EU countries pay for war but not for defense?
Actually, Trump has put himself in a position whereby no one wants to cross him on the deal will get worst for them. Pretty good all things considered. It hurts to hear but Ukraine lost. What do you really expect Trump to do, convince Putin to give back all his gains? Who is willing to spend endlessly for that outcome? If Ukraine wants to keep going go for it but the deal you get today will be substantially better than the deal you’ll get in 5 years.
Then let him keep fighting but to expect someone else to foot the bill in perpetuity is a non starter.
Yes it could of been over very quickly and then Putin would of started another war.
Well depends, if my enemy has declared that I should not exist, would rearm, and would definitely invade again, why stop fighting without serious security guarantees?
Putin himself has repeatedly made clear that he denies Ukraine's right to exist and is determined to extinguish Ukrainian statehood.
Putin in 2021 posted a 5,000 world essay on why Ukrainian statehood was a historical mistake.
There's also no reason for the Ukrainians to "admit they lost the war" when they have not. They are currently holding the Russians almost at a standstill and actually pushing them back some near Pokrovsk. The Russians are suffering terrible losses when they try to advance, which means Ukraine might actually win a war of attrition. So to them there is simply no sense in agreeing to anything that looks like capitulation.
Excellent summation.
I think you’ve said that twice already before this.
Did you know that the Muslims invading Europe also say that no country should exist outside the caliphate? nations are in fact a diversion from the only true allegiance a Muslim should have, and that is to sharia.
What is Europe doing about that existential threat?
Just curious.
Putin will not accept western peacekeepers in Ukraine because it will prevent another Russian invasion.

The best deal I see is Ukraine cedes Luhansk, Donetsk and Crimea. It gets the occupied parts of Kherson and Zaporizhia back, along with some kind of alliance structure (even if not NATO) to give security guarantees.
But the current framework suggested by Trump offers Ukraine nothing and Russia almost everything, so it's to be expected that they won't accept it.
I’m not talking about a peace-keeping force. I’m talking about Europe re-arming Ukraine for its own defense.
Oh, silly me. There have to be people still alive to man the defense systems.
Well, go ahead. Keep fighting until all your men are dead, because you wouldn’t end the fighting without security guarantees that you were never gonna get anyway.
I giggle when I see Europeans saying, "We'll show those Americans! We'll defend ourselves!" As though we haven't been trying to get them to do that for decades.
Seems to me that at one point Trump offered to put American businessmen in Ukraine so that there would be a genuine US interest there that would deter Russian aggression.
But Zelensky 3 times said he would sign the deal but chose instead to listen to the Deep State thugs and piss on it instead.
Darn. Maybe he should have thought a little harder about that one.
