@PeterSchiff

Gold is not just any commodity, it's money. Under normal circumstances gold does not move the way it is now. It's already up another $58 tonight, trading above $3,483. This is the end of the U.S. dollar's dominance. Life in America is about to change in ways few can imagine.

First there's Autumn. Then there's Winter. And Spring follows Winter. Yes, there will be growth in the Spring.

Thank you for your invaluable contribution, Mr. Gardiner!

Oh, the drama! Sounds like a doom-and-gloom prediction global warming cultists would make.

,,, what drama? The price is evident and can change throughout the day, every day. The present peak is a market barometer which takes in economic perceptions, the possibility of wars escalting in Yemen/Gaza, Ukraine/Russia and the South China Sea. It's all easily quantified, unlike the climate industry. Although gold ETFs in China aren't at all big, they're growing at a fast rate. I doubt they regard it as drama, just self preservation and an easy access point to metals.

If the American economy collapsed, gold would get you nothing. A fifth of cheap vodka would be worth more as would any type of food.

My husband has a side job. He takes silver as payment. Most of his customers know this. You’d be surprised the people he’s woken up doing this. We have a network of people we can “trade” with. He has built this for years.

Had this discussion many times. Why would I trade ammo or anything worth something during a societal and economic collapse for gold or silver?

An economic collapse like a recession is minor with a year or two of recovery but an actual economic crash where society collapsed as well then gold or any so called precious metals are worth nothing. Cites started looting and murders skyrocketed when power was lost for a few days.

If America’s economy collapses so does the rest of the world. The barter system would take over and precious metals would be worthless

Correct. The ā€œbarbarous relicā€ only has value once savagery gives way to a semi civilized society.

The Roman empire lasted 500 year on intrinsic coins made from gold, silver and copper. Not a bad record.

In a collapsed society, gold would get you nothing.. I tend to agree/disagree.

Someone will always be looking for old valuables, but most will trade ammo for a can of string beans, vodka, moonshine, cigarettes, rifles, propane, gas, diesel, your wife or daughters for 30 minutes. It will all be worth more than gold.

“precious metals would be worthless”
Can you give me a period in time when this was true?
I didn’t think so.

There are a few gas stations nearby that have signs ā€œ gas - 20 cents a gallon, must be two pre-64 dimesā€ā€¦..there are also a few U tube videos showing how some merchants in NH that ā€œ accept Constitutional Silverā€ for payment of goodsā€ā€¦..six silver dimes for a breakfast…..eight silver dimes for lunch….

Some people are starting to understand…most others, still chasing ( saving) rapidly declining US dollars. Why would anyone save something that is declining in value by 6-8 percent a year?

What about the hundreds of billions of dollars in plant upgrades and new business in the U.S. that foreign firms are spending.

I would be surprised if the dollar did NOT decline slightly.

But the future will be bright for American workers with lots of new jobs being created. Go Trump!

“When they find that Fort Knox is empty, will Gold hit $10,000.”

I’m hoping that was just humor and not prophesy. It was intended as sarcastic humor. About a month ago there was a lot of noise about auditing Fort Knox. It’s been silent ever since so I wonder if there was a problem that they don’t want public.

There will always be the ‘haves’ and the ‘have nots’. In a time of societal collapse, the ‘have nots’ will fight to the death, as they starve. The ‘haves’ will look down and watch.
Which of these two groups do you think own the gold?
He who owns the gold, owns the world. It has always been that way.
