One of my grandfathers, an Iowa farmer and quite a large man, was somewhat famous locally for once having knocked a horse down with his fist. He was a very nice and mild-tempered guy, but apparently the horse managed to tick him off.

He was a very nice and mild-tempered guy, but apparently the horse managed to tick him off. A guy I once worked with was from rural Kentucky and his father was a big, burly rough-and-tumble type. He got kicked in the head by a mule one day and everybody thought he was dead. They took his body to his house and after a few hours he came to, good as new.
