A seven-month-old girl from Columbus, Ohio, has lost her life following an attack by one of her family's three pet pit bulls. The child's mother, Mackenzie Copley, expressed her grief in a Facebook post, writing, “I will never understand why!!!” She also shared images of her daughter Elizah Turner, peacefully cuddling with the dogs. “I am so lost and broken. This was the same dog who was side by side with my baby every single day,” added the mother, according to a report in The New York Post.
Elizah's father, Kameron Turner, also poured out his sorrow on social media, stating, “Life is so not fair. How can I continue living without her.”
The Franklin County Coroner's Office confirmed the identity of the 7-month-old girl. Columbus Police Sgt. James Fuqua said that Elizah was bitten by a family dog at a home located in the 3700 block of South Champion Avenue, according to a report in WBNS.
Fuqua described the incident as a heartbreaking and sudden tragedy, noting that the situation escalated very quickly and appeared to be accidental.
“There are really not a lot of words I can say to convey how I feel and how the officers who arrived. Everyone in this process is literally grieving as if this child belonged to us because most of us are parents and can't imagine just how this scene is,” Fuqua was quoted as saying. Remembering Elizah, her obituary described her as a joyful and vibrant child: “Lizah was spunky, happy… and she was never without a smile. She brought light to everyone's life, healed her family's hearts and gave them all purpose. Elizah's face would light up the room and her laugh was contagious.”
I will never understand people don’t get a different breed.
The results of our continued decline in common sense...absolutely clueless
I want to believe the people who say their put bull is the sweetest thing on earth.
But then why is every animal shelter full of pit bulls given up by their owner?
Never leave a dog alone with a child and always give a dog a place it can go when stressed, so it has an out.
Any parent grieving over a child who was recently killed, vs a child who died by natural causes, would be wise to stay off social media for the first few weeks following the incident. Easy for me to say, since I have never had that experience. But any such parent in that state may say things that give the wrong impression to others reading it
**If you don’t know Pit Bulls by now,
You will never, never know them!
You play with fire....
“Life is so not fair.”
Due to her parents being idiots, life was not fair to little Elizah.
Y’all never leave a baby alone with ANY animal!
human babies are about the weakest mammals there are
and all animals sense weakness.
the dad is wondering how he can continue living without “her”? Meaning the baby or the dog? Pitty owners are very loyal owners.

We had a similar situation near me a couple of years ago, two pit bulls "sweetest dogs ever" went berserk and killed two boys while badly mauling the mother when she tried to pull them off the boys. If you have pit bulls around children you are a moron.
3 pit bulls in the house with a toddler…….what could possibly go wrong!! People who absolutely REFUSE to accept any common sense!!
I will never understand why some people don’t understand. They practically come with a warning label. What part of “Pit Bull” don’t you understand?
There are some dog breeds that are bred to be very protective of fam ilies and children... pit bulls are NOT one of those breeds! And no matter how “sweet”they appear, they have psychotic tendencies that can can crop up without any warning. Other dog breeds can as well, but the majority of fatal attacks on families come from put bulls despite pit bulls not being a popular family pet.
This reminds me of the snake story pres Trump tells- “why did you bite me” said the woman. “Because I’m a snake, what did you expect?” Replied the viper (or something like that)
Many many reports about pit bulls turning on their loving keepers. Too many reports!
Seems as though. I’ve seen her before- face looks very familiar
I had a friend and neighbor who volunteered at a dog shelter. She told me 70% of the dogs at the shelter were pit bulls. She also said that the problem with the breed is they are ‘misunderstood’. Well a ‘misunderstood’ pit bull at the shelter bit her hand which required surgery.
As I recall the breed is illegal in England and it should be in the USA as well.
She will no doubt blame herself and not the pit bill that bit her despite her likely not doing anything to provoke the bite.
If want a safe dog, get a golden retriever. But even then, be aware that a baby or young child should not be left unattended around any dog, even a golden retriever, as they are capable of biting if provoked, whether provoked intentionally or unintentionally.
