They are made in China, then exported to Europe, and workers there put the company name on the product, a Made in Italy or Made in France label and package it to be sold.
Chinese manufacturers are taking to TikToc telling people to buy directly from them, even with the tariff it's still up to ten times less expensive for the exact same item...minus the swanky luxury brand name.
IOW these "luxury" brands have been ripping off their customers for years.
On Facebook Marketplace the number of people selling counterfeit Rolexes from China is huge.
Saw the video. What a load of crock. Usd 50 for the clasp because it’s marine stainless? More like USD 5. 50 USD for labor? Nah. 450USD for the leather? Not buy8ng it.
The wife and I vacationed in Europe a few years ago. Upon leaving, at Heathrow Airport getting a refund of the VAT tax, we watched Asian women with scores of luxury handbags, LV and Hermes doing the same. No doubt returning to China with live bags to use as templates for their counterfeiting program.
This is not a great advertisement for these so-called luxury brands.
I was gonna say, a lot of luxury brands are made in Europe. LVMH is a huge company as are all the Italian fashion labels. That stuff isn’t made here.
The purpose of displaying a luxury brand is to say you have the wearwithal to waste money. This makes you sexually more desirable.
Kind of.
Most Italian products are made in Italy — but by imported Chinese “guest” workers.
The leather is Italian (or increasingly from America or Australia), design, and quality inspections are done by Italians.
There are very specific trade laws in this.
“Unfair”????
Really, China?
So, how then is it “fair” for you to impose tariffs, steal Intellectual Property, manipulate your currency, cheat on trade by using export proxies, and employ slave labor, while draining the seas of fish without caring about the collapse of the stock????!!!
China, go to Hell!!!!
When push comes to shove, “Luxury” goods are the first to go.
IOW these “luxury” brands have been ripping off their customers for years.

Nobody has been forcing customers to pay $50,000 and more for a dang old Hermes purse. Or even $500 for a knock off.
Rich people can be so stupid.
The guy may make FAKE bags, which are quite the rage in Asia, particularly China.
The the most expensie brands, like Hermes, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel, most definitely do NOT manufacture in China. They may use Chinese laborers at plants in Italy (remember how covid spread so quickly in Milan in 2020?) but they certainly will not destroy their brands or risk counterfeiting by outsourcing to China.
Hermes has something like a 2 year waiting list for their cheapest bag, which is about $12,000. They maintain a shortage on purpose.
We have made china mega rich. If you can find the right Reel cluster, you can see first hand what America paid for in China... 100s upon 100s of Billions of dollars... This is just a microbe of an example.

100% trade embargo on China. Let them eat their cheap knockoffs.
They could have revealed this years ago.
They’ve been doing it for decades. They run 24/7. 16 hours they make the branded goods the other 8 hour shift they run either counterfeits or off brand but the same quality. My buddy got a brand new set of Galloway golf clubs right from the factory for 1/8th the price. Exactly the same as the Calloway at the time, but with a different nameplate. Harder to do with say Louis Vuitton since their logo is unique but just the same design, leather, engineering etc for all kinds of goods from purses to dresses to suits and shirts etc. It’s just a label that changes. Now it seems they will go back to straight counterfeiting. I am looking forward to getting some new “Rolex” watches and maybe some “Hugo Boss” suits. Time to upgrade my image and besides those aren’t American brands anyway. I’m just kidding of course.
It used to just be a civil crime to counterfeit private goods. The company had to sue each maker and show losses. Thats why there were so many fakes in the 1980s. I knew another guy who made the best counterfeit LV purses and bags etc. They were indistinguishable from the real and he made good money because almost nobody could tell they were fake. He and his wife made millions they were smart about it too, sold them in bulk at wholesale where they ended up in shops around the country. This was of your swap meet cheap stuff. He caught the company’s attention for good though because he made a product they did not make - something intended for illegal nose drug consumption. Thats when they really went after him. I still have one of his briefcases but I never use it. Too pretentious. I wish I had one of those nose candy kits though, just for posterity I would not use the drug. Anyway now it is a criminal offense to make or sell counterfeits. The corporations got the government to prosecute their counterfeiter for them. Cheaper for them they pass enforcement off to the taxpayers. Since then the quality of most counterfeits has gone way down.
If they are luxury products then they are not cost-sensitive and can easily absorb any higher costs resulting from making them in US factories.
