That’ll make for some cool YouTube ‘exploration’ vids.

Also a pretty good episode of Mysteries of the Abandoned.

There is amusing phrasing in the article, and it speaks of about 3 years ago.

. . . as fossil fuel use inevitably is inevitably reduced . . .

They’re probably actually correct, but not for the reason they think. Fossil fuel use probably will reduce in the years of coming, because it will be scarce. It will be a shock effect to the world of economics when all of a sudden the definitions of the word consumption and demand are not synonymous. There will be demand which will exceed consumption.

I’m thinking of my CA Gov. Newsom’s Train To Nowhere boondogle, multiplied by a factor of 15.

The Line City may turn out to be a mega-boondoggle, but at least the Saudis will complete it, and they'll complete it on time.

Not only will California's Train to Nowhere never be complete, but construction will never start. The purpose of California's bullet train project is not to actually construct a bullet line, but to fund the Democrats' patronage system, like the unaccounted billions for "homeless shelters."

Saudi Arabia’s “Line” is planned to:
<><>have a length of 170 km (105 miles),
<><>initial stage by 2030 will be 2.4 km (1.5 miles), an amazing achievement,
<><>however, it will reach a height of 500 m (1,640 ft),
<><>a width of 200 m (656 ft).
<><>will be wrapped in a mirrored exterior
<><>and host an air-conditioned city of some 300,000 people
<><>AI tech and heavy surveillance will monitor everything
<><>water usage even garbage collection will be monitored.

When babylon is gonna be reborn in the end times, it is specu, ated that it will be done very rapidly as nations pour money into it and send many many workers to rebuild it as the “ce ter” hub for world trade-

Sadam actuslly began rebuilding it, sinking huge amounts of money into it- he felt he was the reincarnation of king nebuchadnezzar, and even had money printed with both their likenesses on it and bricks made with inscriptions about it. He tried buying the door to the goddess temple Dianna I think it was or some female goddess, but the nation that has it wouldn’t sell to him.

NEOM is the main contractor for the Line project in Saudi Arabia. While various companies are involved in different aspects of the construction, NEOM oversees the overall development.

Several firms are partners in specific areas like design, construction, and project management, such as Parsons, AtkinsRéalis, and Jacobs. Additionally, several contractors are involved in the piling work.

NEOM is a name that combines elements of Greek and Arabic, signifying “new future”. It’s derived from the Greek prefix “neo” meaning “new” and the Arabic word “Mustaqbal” meaning “future”, with the “M” also referencing Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s name and the start of the word “Mustaqbal”.

Construction has started.

From an article published 14 months ago:

For California’s bullet train, progress is being made but its completion date remains a mystery.

Oil does not come from fossils. Secondly, we have more oil than we can use.

Yup. We have an underground well house. It’s amazing how stable the temp is down there.

The goal was to not pay for heating a small building to house the pressure tanks and water softener. I got the idea from working in underground defense facilities where I noticed it never got cold enough to freeze down there in the winter, nor did it get hot in the summer.

I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,

And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read

Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;

And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!

Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

It’s all part of Saudis’ long-term plan to become the world’s largest exporter of scrap steel.

And because it’s merely moving heat around, such systems are in effect more than 100% efficient. Makes solar look better, much better, in remote areas.

I have a relative who showed me his monthly electric bill (spooky big old house, much more Boonies than this one is) has under eight bucks. “Photovoltaics?” He explained that their generating capacity is limited to 70% of their prior average use. And being a (D) he groused that the power company buys at wholesale and sells at retail, which makes perfect sense.

Also, the property tax eval issue is different here, the jump in value from adding, say, 90K worth of cells, doesn’t occur until the property changes hands. Of course, he’s in his 80s, but still, much better. And regarding the 70% limit and wholesale vs retail, remaining on the grid (I believe that’s required) obviates the need for a sturdy outbuilding to house the battery storage for the nighttime hours, as well as the additional homeowner’s insurance that would entail.
