Nobody is buying these. China is in an economic death spiral and this number is hilariously inflated.
Are you paid by the CCP? Your posts tend to be focused on foreign countries.
I was surprised to discover that BYDs are being sold here in Japan !
Hey, it’s the ChiComs. So I completely trust any data they might put out.
It’s a Great Electric Leap Forward!
RE: Are you paid by the CCP?
Posting an article now equates to being paid by the CCP? How does your logic work?
Your posts tend to be focused on foreign countries.
NOPE. My Posts are diverse. You probably haven’t seen my other posts.
If Donald Trump is successful and fair trade deals with countries like Australia and New Zealand are enacted then those countries will stop importing BYD and other Chinese cars, resulting in greater losses for China.
But if those countries disregard the US incentive to tax and tariff Chinese cars, then they will feel the pressure of higher taxes and tariffs on their products to the US.

Maybe not in the states, but I’ve test driven one in Europe, and they make up for the e car driving experience with all the extra features. The BYD “feels” luxurious and like you’ve stepped into the future.
My son in law has a Tesla, which is a fine e-car, nicely finished but super simple interior, similar to a Porsche... but the Porsche feels like you’re driving something powerful and the Tesla does not. So it will come down to features, but don’t discount the BYD cars.

L.A. Times Investigation Tells Sad Story of Attempts to Electrify the City’s Bus Fleet

A quick update on Los Angeles’ plan to electrify its bus fleet: The government has now spent millions of dollars on shoddy, nonfunctional vehicles from a manufacturer that transit officials had a direct financial interest in supporting.
The Times also found that some of the officials responsible for awarding grants to BYD owned BYD stock, attended BYD-funded junkets, or received tens of thousands in campaign contributions from BYD.
While has BYD proved to be a deft influence peddler, the Times reveals that it is a less than sterling bus manufacturer. When the first five BYD buses hit Los Angeles’ streets in 2015, the vehicles averaged only 59 miles between charges, despite promises they could reach ranges of 155 miles. (Normal Metro buses have a range of about 385 miles before needing to refuel.)
The BYD buses also stalled going up hills and required service 10 times more frequently than other Metro buses.
I’ve seen these cars in Japan, Indonesia, and ithe parts of Asia as well as popping up in Europe. They definitely are selling, but as the article says, they aren’t targeting the USA yet
Like Australia?
Australia due to free trade agreements has no tariffs against the USA. Under the Australia-United States Free Trade Agreement (AUSFTA), effective since January 1, 2005, Australia does not impose tariffs on most U.S. goods. Over 97% of Australia’s non-agricultural exports to the U.S. and two-thirds of agricultural tariff lines became duty-free upon the agreement’s entry into force. However, certain products may still face non-tariff barriers, like biosecurity restrictions (e.g., on fresh beef due to past mad cow disease concerns) or quotas for specific goods like dairy, where tariffs could apply if quotas are exceeded. Additionally, Australia applies a 10% Goods and Services Tax (GST) on most imports, including U.S. products, but this is a consumption tax, not a tariff, and applies equally to domestic goods. Some posts on X claim Australia has no meaningful tariffs on U.S. goods, aligning with the trade agreement’s terms.[](https://www.dfat.gov.au/trade/agreements/in-force/ausfta/australia-united-states-fta)
And the USA runs a surplus against Australia. U.S. goods imports from Australia totaled $16.7 billion in 2024, up 4.7 percent ($745.7 million) from 2023. The U.S. goods trade surplus with Australia was $17.9 billion in 2024, a 1.6 percent increase ($279.7 million) over 2023.
It looks like the USA already has a fair trade deal with Australia
If too many people buy EV’s then the lights will definitely go out. The infrastructure won’t begin to handle it. And there is far from enough power production.
I saw a BYD driverless bus at Haneda but with a driver. Japanese people are not into EV after the Great Tohoku earthquake. I hope they stop importing craps. Japan is the new dump ground now that China can’t sell it to the US.

Have you been to China? There are BYD cars everywhere.
Does delivered equal sold?
My guess is no
“but as the article says, they aren’t targeting the USA yet”
That’s because Biden put 100% tariff on them.
Musk on BYD...
“Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Wednesday warned that Chinese automakers will “demolish” their global competition without tariffs or other trade barriers.
His comments come after Chinese electric car company BYD, which makes cheaper cars and is backed by Berkshire-Hathaway, surpassed Tesla as the top-selling EV company last quarter.
Chinese automakers were the “most competitive” and “will have significant success outside of China, depending on what kind of tariffs or trade barriers are established,” Musk told investors on a post-earnings call on Wednesday.
“If there are no trade barriers established, they will pretty much demolish most other car companies in the world,” he said. “They’re extremely good.””
I’m sure these cars have all sort of spying and surveillance equipment that’s sent CCP data centers. There’s probably a kill switch that CCP can turn on and used to deactivate the engine or the driver.
