They didn’t work very well for Covid because it was airborne and also because people were wearing bandanas and flimsy bits of cloth because of the PPE shortage and supply chain problems (we import them from China and some doofus didn’t make sure we had a stockpile in case of pandemic beforehand).

Proper masks did work somewhat, when properly used and handled, did helped in the sense they prevented you from inhaling gobs of droplets, thereby decreasing the initial viral load you might have got. According to studies, the higher the initial load, the worse the outcome. Makes sense.

They are helpful when it comes to droplet borne illnesses (which they initially thought Covid was — but it turned out to also be airborne). .

Should they have forced people to wear them all the time everywhere? No, and especially not children.

Some of the doctors at my VA in San Francisco, have a new way of dealing with it. Some doctors don’t want to give them up, even though I, the patient am no longer required to mask up in most circumstances. During an office visit, the doctor will enter the room masked, sit down, and lift their mask up as they introduce themselves, then, lower the mask and get on with the office visit. So the doctor is giving me a “free look” as a courtesy, before the mask comes down.
At least I see what they look like for a quick minute.

Memphis city hall, about 50 % of the women employees. The masks, fake eyelashes, wigs, nails, and oversized goofy goggles. The masks are bling-matching, and virtue signaling. The virtue is, "don't aks me to do nuffin".

Not a single male in six months that I have seen.

My region is at least 85% always Dem all the time.
Many Karens, gray haired buns on “men”, leftover hippies and young Communists. I stay inside a lot.

They are around 30-40% in masks outside and over 40% in stores.

Creepy.

Note: I have not seen a dog wearing a mask outside so far this year. Used to see one or two a day.

Yes, a guy I know who is being treated for bone cancer wears one at the insistence of his doctor. A man at my church whose wife has MS and other serious health problems and on meds that depress her immune system also wears one in public places as advised by her doctor.

I never judge anyone wearing a mask. But it seems go be a favorite sport among a certain crowd here on FR.

Hardly ever. The ones I do see are probably protecting others or themselves. People with COPD will wear one. Especially if they're going to a Dr and Hospital.

The pasty ones all have a look that is crazy similar to others that are in their cult. lol

Also, I live in a red state and a very red parish.

I see them rarely and always on people who seem to be barely able to walk. Except for the weird checker at the hardware store. Masks and gloves, she seems germophobic.

Quit judging people.

Every mask wearer is not virtue signaling.

It’s allergy season.
Maybe she doesn’t want to catch a cold or the flu or covid.
Maybe she is immune compromised due to cancer treatment or something else.

It’s not about you and how many masks you have to see.
It’s about them and their reasons for wearing a mask and you just don’t know their reasons.

A Walmart greeter comes in contact with a lot of people. I could see any normal person choosing to wear a mask in that job regardless of political affiliation.

Could be. I picked up my landlady at the airport three weeks ago. She was returning from Panama. Perhaps the ChiComs released it at one of the ports they control there. A little ‘gift’ before they vacate Panama.

Most all mask wearers are Senile Joe’s Covid clan and Ukie war supporters. Both bought into his false narratives.

Fools.

Masks don’t WORK!

Wearing red socks would be just as effective…..

Other than where mandatory, there are only a few remaining virtue signalers.

Last year, I wore a mask for a few months during chemo because my WBC was low.

After treatment, I stopped wearing one. One day, a woman at a store commented to me about other people wearing masks. She was laughing at them. I told her she doesn’t know what health problems they have.

Re: 49 - thank you for this. People piling on about who is wearing a mask are just people wanting to complain. That maybe comes from how such people were brought up, the values they were raised with, etc.

I know a couple people who have pretty bad allergies that wear them during allergy season.

No more than I would expect from old possibly ill seniors. A few virtue signals to be sure. But it’s a reasonable number.
