President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced a 90-day pause on the full effect of his new tariffs for at least some countries.
Trump also said in a social media post that he was raising the tariffs imposed on imports from China to 125% “effective immediately” due to the “lack of respect that China has shown to the World’s Markets.”
Trump credited his decision to pause the full effect of tariffs on the fact that “more than 75 Countries” have contacted U.S. officials “to negotiate a solution” to trade concerns that he raised in imposing the new duties.

Me too. I told everyone I knew to buy, including here on FR. A giant dip like that based on fear would not last...

It’s a cease fire. Not an end to the war. Just yet.Yep, shot across the bow so nations realize he's willing to do it.

I honestly don't know what to make of this. I interpret this as a hardball negotiation in which 75 countries are now offering some of the desired concessions.
Details to be worked out in the next 90 days. Hence a pause before dropping the hammers.
China has explicitly refused to concede anything. They get the hammer of immediate tariffs. "Pour encourager les autres".
Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

“ Ever negotiated a contract?”
Everyone knows the best way to negotiate a contract is to blow up the building where the negotiations are being held first.

Sense? China is an adversarial, predator country and communist also. The USA has to stop the de industrializing and off shoring. The tariff is the only tool that will work.
It doesn't matter to you and your globalist type where stuff is made. You don't care and do not think it very important.

Makes china feel isolated too and makes me wonder if POTUS had a talk with the cooperative countries about their trade with china and/or their trade with us.

So the USA's industrial and economic policy is set by the emotions of a rigged stock market? Things are more f’d up than I thought.

Wow you are narrow sighted.
This literally brought everyone to the table to negotiate and fix the issue.
China is trying to continue it’s war with us so Trump keeps the tariffs.
This is anything but chaos, this is manipulation with intent to improve America’s economic place in the world.

FAFO and it’s about to get worse.
I suspect the pause on tariffs to 70 countries for 90 days gives us ample opportunity work out a longer term strategy with the other countries who are coming to the table quickly and our goal is not punishing them.
I won’t be surprised if they join, as allies, in on the beat down of China and severely mute the globull ambitions
