I remember years ago there was a news story about a dead gorilla being found on the streets of NYC. No one had a clue about where it came from until it was revealed that it had died at a zoo and was being transported to a hot dog maker (not id’d). I think about that every time I have a hot dog or piece of sausage.

There used to be special companies to pickup the horse carcasses and take them to glue factories.
Of course, in those days, probably 2 of the 9 kids in that picture would not make it to adulthood.
