Over everything....................
No, let’s not. If we do build an arch, chances are that it will be weird, woke and ugly, like most of what now passes for “art.”
While I agree in principle that something classicly grand and architecturally significant to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary needs to be erected, there are a few issues to be worked out. Foremost among them is the fact that if President Trump orders and completes it, the design will have to include a guard post and plans to have the site protected 24/7/365 by armed guards. Otherwise the BLM/ANTIFA/pink pussy hat legions of domestic terrorists will constantly desecrate the structure with their ugly obscene graffiti and odious physical presence.
This is why we can’t have nice things.
The planned site is the entrance to Arlington National Cemetery...................
Absolutely not. And I was sad to see hardly a mention of yesterday’s anniversary of the Battle of Lexington. Every day this year & next is a good opportunity to discuss the American Revolution & our history.
We don’t need arches, we need to educate our young people on what this country is all about.
Already got an arch.
Its in St Louis.
+1
it needs to be a bigger, more beautiful arch than anything else in the world
But far enough away to invite vandalism. On site armed guards will absolutely be required.
Forget the arch.
Have the mother of all parades.
DC’s fine. It needs the reminder.
Include military and re-enactors from our nation’s history.
Stuff from every state and territory.
Marching bands. And Sousa.
And last, but not least, fife and drum corps.
Lots of fife and drums.
I’ve seen the Memorial Arch in Newport News, probably 40 years ago.
It’s wedged in between the shipyard and the bulk coal facility. I wouldn’t venture down there at night for any reason. .
Mr. President, if I may make a suggestion...
Next year visit places like Sturbridge, MA; Mystic CT, Williamsburg VA, Fort Ticonderoga, NY, St Augustine, FL; Gettysburg, PA; The Alamo; Golden Spike National Historic Park in Utah; Wright Brothers National Memorial, NC.
You get the idea...
Make our history great again.
God bless.
And Plimouth, MA...
Jeez, can’t forget Plimouth...
Nice idea but a waste of money. The symbolism of an arch is long lost on our ill educated younger generation. What we need is a year of local celebrations. Let the jubilee year start with President Trump starting the fireworks at Mt. Rushmore in America’s heartland.
One monument that is needed in Washington is one honoring Native Americans who bravely fought in America’s wars including the code talkers and Medal of Honor winners. I am also in favor of reviving the tradition of naming Navy warships after great Native American chiefs e.g., USS Tecumseh which fought at the Battle of Mobile Bay in the Civil War. In the Star Trek saga theUSS Crazy Horse was an Excelsior class Federation starship operated by Starfleet in the late 24 th century. Maybe we not wait another three centuries.
Wichita
Let’s spend money on infrastructure repairs and upgrades, rather than decorative crap. If you really want an arch, solicit donations to fund it.
Keep dividing
