Volkswagen is going to let its customers know just how much President Donald Trump's tariffs will cost Americans.
The German automotive manufacturing giant is reportedly adding a new line item to its vehicle stickers.
Volkswagen will print an 'import fee' on each new car's buying label. Customers will see the exact cost next to the vehicle's added features prices, fuel efficiency estimations, and crash test ratings.
The official sticker — required by law for pricing transparency and found on every new vehicle — will clearly spelling out just how much of the price hike is a direct result of Trump’s tariffs.

Right beneath the US required disclaimer Stating:
This is the latest model of the German Nazi vehicle made for Adolph Hitler to use for the killing of tens of millions of peaceful citizens of neighboring nations.
Either customers will be willing to pay the price or they will buy from someone else and avoid the tariff.
Of course Volkswagen could expand their plant in Tennessee and avoid paying the tariff too.....
I’m so glad I got rid of my VW.
Now I can go out of town in my Mazda and not have to worry about breaking down and being stranded.
Do they mean besides all the millions VW gouged out of Tennesseans when they moved to TN from Germany ???
If you read dieselgate and their reaction, you’ll see that VW likes to post the regulatory costs it carries on the window sticker. I also have some empathy for their bad decisions.

i remember the absolute disaster the Vanagon was when it came out as i knew a few people who stupidly had bought one ...
i also remember during the 70’s OPEC-created oil crisis when my father bought an Audi, purported to be fuel-efficient. and that it frequently just halted in mid-stride, which was disconcerting during the middle of the night ... apparently, the electronics were a cousin to Lucas Electrics ...
and then there’s BMW, though not owned by Volkswagon, my mechanic friend claimed they were throw-away cars because the engine blocks were too thin to rebore and BMW refused to sell new engine blocks ...
overall, expensive junk that’s EXTREMELY expensive to repair ...

I was in Germany last December. I saw one American made vehicle in 2 weeks. A Ford F-150. All the other vehicles were German and French made. A lot of Citroen light trucks.
Hey, I hear ya... I have an older Germany-built M-series BMW in the garage... It’s fun little rocket of a car... but a spendthrift mistress when it comes to the repair shop... so she mostly stays in the garage these days.
Honda has manufactured more than 31,000,000 vehicles in the U.S. during the last 40 years ... Accords and Civics are built in a plant in Marysville, Ohio ... many Honda OEM parts are also manufactured in the U.S. as well ...
Most of the major models of the major Japanese autos are made in the U.S. ... for most practical purposes, these are American cars designed by the Japanese ...
No need for that.. let VW do whatever they like, but like I said I don’t think showing $X of price is a tariff is going to convince buyers your car is worth more..
We shall see, but this is just a reaction that they are free to do and easy, but will it stop buyers from choosing cheaper options? Not many I would bet depending on how much the delta is between an imported VW and a domestically assembled vehicle by another brand

In the meantime Ford says you can buy an American Car at the same price employees of Ford get. Buy American. Save money, create a job, stimulate the US economy, win/win....everybody in America wins. Suck on that consumer advocates.....

We enjoyed our 97 Passat wagon (purchased used) a LOT. Unfortunately for them they have service departments run by demons and the cost spread over American cars at the time for parts was like 3X. Their service department pissed me off so much (cursing at and belittling my wife) that I found a silent recall on the vehicle for heater cores, had them replace it free (an odyssey involving full dash assembly removal on a vehicle with 217,000 miles on it LOL) and drove it straight from their dealership to Saturn and traded it in on a new LW300 wagon.
Also Kia, along with Hyundai. Kia has a huge plant in West Point, GA, basically where I-85 crosses the state line to Alabama, and Hyundai has a huge plant in Montgomery. In between are a ton of supplier plants.
