SEN RAND PAUL: Terminate the Trump tariffs before it's too late
Fox News Digital ^ | April 4 | Sen. Rand Paul

Posted on 04/05/2025 3:42:20 AM PDT by RandFan

If you think eggs are expensive, just wait until the new tariffs hit cars. Goldman Sachs estimates tariffs on imported vehicles could raise prices by $5,000 to $15,000. That’s because tariffs are taxes on foreign imports that are paid by American consumers. These tariffs apply to almost every conceivable product. As a result, energy will be more expensive, and gas prices in some parts of the country could see as much as a 70-cent increase in the cost per gallon. According to the National Association of Home Builders, the building of a single-family home could become up to $10,000 more expensive because of the tariffs. With the tariffs on aluminum, even beer and hard seltzer are likely to increase in price.

Unfortunately, these tax increases are on top of the taxes you have already paid when tariffs were imposed during the first Trump administration. The Tax Foundation calculated that tariffs between 2018 and 2023 imposed an additional $1,753 in costs on American families. Now that the tariffs apply to even more products, the tax increases are poised to be even higher this time. The Peterson Institute predicts tariffs could annually cost families $1,200 a year, while Yale’s Budget Lab estimates the tariffs would cost the average American family $4,200 annually.

The fact that tariffs are taxes paid by consumers is not news to the American people. That is why vehicle sales jumped almost 13% last month as Americans sought to make their purchases before the 25% tariffs on motor vehicles and parts went into effect.

Is this a way for Rand Paul to get leverage in the Senate for he knows the other 3 Senators will vote with the Democrats?

The Great Compromise strikes again, the only flaw in the Constitution. If only the Founders knew what would happen...

If tariffs will take down the Democrat mafia stronghold on this country, I am willing to suffer whatever losses I have to endure for it to happen. The Feds hurt me severely in life and thousands of them must go. So be it.

What a losder Rand Paul is turning out to be. Just let America fail because the solution will be bumpy initially.
As usual no solutions just hanging crepe by Rans Paul.

The left manipulates with half tuths, lies and fear mongering. Seems like those are popular tactics with never Trumpers, Neocons and Don Quixote types too.

Many are the empires lost due to the complacency of the status quo. It isn’t easy to change the world order but short-term pains are to be expected in the process. Do we want an America that is strong and free or an America that is led slowly to bed like a convalescent has-been?

Senator Rand Paul is stuck in 1930, when the Smoot-Hawley tariffs were badly mismanaged and misused. Donald has an entirely different view of tariffs and how they are to be managed. This is a negotiation ploy by the Trump Administration, to bring about FAIR and equitable means to level the playing field.

The simple thrust is this: bring the manufacturing of these goods BACK to the US, and you will escape the tariffs. This investment in employment and manufacturing within the US results in a net inflow of investment, and vastly shortens up supply lines.

Of course Senator Paul knows this. He is simply being contrarian.

Right. When I have issues regarding the economy, I always seek help from an eye doctor rather than a successful billionaire businessman.

As McCain scuttled the undoing of Obamacare in Trump's first presidency, Rand threatens the change to the world order in the second. All hail our new Maverick!

Our goverment functioned with tariffs without income taxes for a long time.
The globalists (creatures from Jekell Island) shifted that burden to the American worker while allowing other countries to raise tarrfis on U.S. goods to finance their governments. In essence, the U.S. worker ended up not only being taxed to run their own government, but the USA ended up supporting the entire world!
All Trump is asking for is free trade. Reduce/eliminate tarriffs on U.S. goods and we’ll reduce/eliminate our tarrifs on their products. What’s good for the goose, ought to be good for the gander so to speak. The globalists are totally freaking out over it.....they’re gonna lose their “golden eggs”.

Rand Paul has been wrong about Trump before, and has admitted it, which most never-Trumpers are incapable of doing.

Trump is using asymmetrical warfare to destroy the Marxist machine in this country.

Either he’s wrong and we’re doomed (which we were anyway) or he’s right and we’re on the brink of a golden age.

Either way, it’s a show and we might as well enjoy it.

And don’t forget the RINOs/uniparty that have brought this country to its knees, Paul has joined Murky, Collins, McConnell lately. If this doesn’t make you throw up on yourself nothing will.

I think you speak for many of us.

My butt hurt about the tariff issue that that America has been a big fat sucker due to the unfair balance (imbalance) of tariffs. And then the countries’ leaders whine. The ungrateful SOBs have the NERVE to complain when PDJT cuts the difference in HALF. He should have made the percentages even-Steven.

Who the hell do they think they are, expecting us to bolster their economies when we’re so severely in debt?

the tariffs will end

they will end on a country by country basis when each country understands that they need to permanently end the restrictions and fees and tariffs they have imposed for decades on the products and services of the USA.
