Grew up in the church and believe in Jesus.
I know there are anti-Catholics out there and celebrating this murder.
Any speculation about the motive?
It is probably wrapped up in some deviant sexuality.
Yep, Free Republic is a strange site that way.
Yes, there is a lot of anti-Catholic sentiment here, when religious issues are discussed. Some of those Freepers might be shocked that there are quite a few conservative Catholics, who agree with them on conservative principles.
I was shocked that some on this site were happy about Luigi Mangione shooting the healthcare executive, because those Freepers were pissed off about healthcare processes.
Indeed there are lots of rabid anti-Catholics here. But none, I think, who would cheer the murder if a priest. We’re not leftists, you know
No motive announced yet.
I never understand why there is anti-Catholic sentiment. This is a secular conservative site, not a religious site.
Some years ago, the priest of Old St. Joseph’s parish in St. Louis was shot and killed in the rectory. The killer was robbing the place and killed the priest to boot. I never heard of any speculation that somehow the priest brought this on himself, that he deserved to be murdered. But if it had happened today, I am sure that there would be those would jump to certain conclusions, before any evidence had been made public.
I’m one of them. Very anti-catholic. They add and remove things from the Bible. Especially don’t like their Pagan rituals
James Mason calls the priest a shaman in 1979s Salems Lot. One of the scariest films ever shown on network TV or other for that matter.
Runs the gamut from rejecting Popish idolatry to nit picking synods of the Lutheran splitters.
According to a local TV station in Kansas City MO, the priest was assigned to the Parish in 2011 so has been there 13 or 14 years. Gary Hermesch grew up in Seneca and studied at some point to be a Priest, so he either reconsidered and decided not to become a priest or did not qualify academically or emotionally or had some defect or other disqualifying factor.
What was added to or removed from the Bible by Catholics? The Deuterocanonical books were removed by Martin Luther.
And do tell me what pagan rituals. I'm all ears.
(convert from Episcopal Church, 2003. Read Classics and Medieval History in college. Fire away.)
Then leave us You are a pagan.
At the Last Supper, Jesus instituted His church.
...do this...
I bet your church doesn’t even have an altar. I bet your church has good rock music, a dynamic preacher who may or may not have been ordained. I bet your church doesn’t follow any type of calendar- a pattern for what the topic of praise and worship will be in 3 months. and I bet your church uses the KJV bible. King James, the official Church of England. You don’t even know what you follow, you just prejudge. ignorant.
You mean Roman Catholic,
NOT the same thing.
Thanks, Pete.
“You mean Roman Catholic, NOT the same thing.”
As opposed to whatever type of Catholic?
Since you are ignorant,
Catholic is Christ’s universal Holy Church, Not the church of Rome
Good grief.
