The Bondsman (starring Kevin Bacon. On prime)
Amazon Prime ^ | 4-3-25 | IMDB/Amazon

Posted on 04/03/2025 4:36:43 PM PDT by dynachrome

Stars Kevin Bacon as a bounty hunter who gets his throat cut by one of the bad guys. The devil sends him back to hunt escaped demons. Blood, demons, shotguns, beartraps, humor. ½ hour episodes, so if you don't like it not much time is wasted. Opens with "Spirit in the Sky" by Norman Greenbaum playing. Other good music so far.

*lots of bad language*

Seems really dumb

What does this have to do with real life. Nothing

Not even sci fi

The devil is in charge of him? How is that interesting

That doesn’t happen

Ugh

Ha, not kidding about 2 minutes ago I was just looking at it on Prime wondering if it was good and lo and behold a review on Freep.

BTW I just joined Prime last week. What the hell is with the commercials?? I thought joining I wouldn’t get commercials but they do.

I follow Kevin Bacon and wife Kyra Sedgwick on Facebook and they're a hilarious, down-to-earth couple who post a lot of video of their day-to-day lives (they recently offered up-close and personal introductions to all of their farm animals!). I'll have to check out The Bondsman. Thanks for the heads-up!

Thanks for the review. I’ll likely watch it.

It is said that every actor is six or fewer degrees from Kevin Bacon. There’s a game where people try to prove that.

There’s your useless trivia for the day.

I guess no more “City on a Hill” with him as a dirty FBI agent in Boston. That was good. Hopefully this is at least as good.

Gemini

Fantasy movies, by their very nature, delve into realms beyond the confines of our everyday reality. Here’s a breakdown of why:
* Escapism and Imagination:
* Fantasy provides an escape from the mundane, allowing viewers to immerse themselves in worlds filled with magic, mythical creatures, and extraordinary adventures.
* It fuels our imaginations, exploring “what if” scenarios that are impossible in the real world.
* Exploration of Universal Themes:
* While not grounded in reality, fantasy often explores universal themes like good versus evil, courage, love, and the human condition.
* These themes resonate with audiences, even within fantastical settings.
* Creative Freedom:
* Fantasy offers filmmakers and storytellers unparalleled creative freedom. They can construct entirely new worlds, rules, and possibilities.
* This allows for unique and visually stunning storytelling.
* Symbolism and Metaphor:
* Fantasy elements can serve as powerful symbols and metaphors for real-world issues.
* For example, a battle against a dark lord might represent the struggle against oppression or inner demons.
* The draw of the extraordinary:
* Humans are drawn to things that are outside of the normal day to day experience. Fantasy movies allow us to experience things that would be impossible in our regular lives.
In essence, fantasy movies offer a unique form of storytelling that allows us to explore both the depths of our imaginations and the core of our humanity, all within the context of fantastical worlds.

if anyone has HBO Max ( I am still on the black friday deal) The Pitt is getting good reviews. Similiar to ER but they are getting sued and said it is not a ER sequel.

if your library has Hoopla you can watch Call The Midwife on Hoopla. I think Netflix has it. Interesting drama bringing up issues in the past like the Thalidomide babies. They do have a downs syndrome character.

Waste of time

We have people making up their own rules. Defyingbtradition. Disrespecting elders and past generations killing their offfspring. Being fine with a stolen presidency. Mad at the pain it’s going to take to recover from a40 trillion dollar debt. Not attending mass and religious services, a sixty to eighty percent divorce rate, household debt out of control . A destroyed film industry, a governmentbgull of grifters

Our culture does not need this crap

I love Prime. I download t.v. episodes and movies to my phone to watch during my lunch break at work and the downloads don’t seem to include any commercials that I’ve noticed. If downloading is ever an option in your viewing, you might give it a whirl and see if that cuts out the commercials.

Let me clarify that I don’t watch an entire movie during one lunch break, lol; it takes me two to three lunch breaks for most movies.

On the theme/subject of catching escapees from Hell, this is good clean, tongue in cheek fun without the foul language.

Ray Wise is in top form as the devil.

We’ve been watching Prime — the new season of Bosch Legacy is there now. It’s nowhere as good as the original Bosch series, but this 3rd season of Legacy is the best.
