They’re digging for answers.
There has been an ongoing debate for many years over where Jesus was crucified and buried — with many experts believing the site to be on the grounds of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.
Now, new archaeological evidence might confirm their belief to be true.
A team of researchers from Sapienza University of Rome recently found remains of a plant — possibly the same plant referenced in John 19:41 — that dates back to the time of Jesus‘ death, which is believed to have happened around 33 A.D.
To be more specific, the Gospel of John 19:41 reads: “Now in the place where he was crucified, there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid. There they laid Jesus.”
“The Gospel mentions a green area between the Calvary and the tomb, and we identified these cultivated fields,” lead archaeologist, Francesca Romana Stasolla explained to The Times of Israel.
The plant remains are not the only confirmation that the Holy Sepulchre played a large role in Jesus’ history.
The researchers uncovered several other findings that all seem connected to Jesus. Another finding is tombs on the Holy Sepulchre compound.

The new findings only indicate that someone was buried there, but not who. Who is still a matter of faith.
Agreed. Are they saying, “Hey, there was grass here! That means Jesus was here!” ?
“Who is still a matter of faith.”
They have narrowed down that chain of faith to about 200 A D, so far.

(for the thread)
An overwhelming and wonderful floral scent met workmen and archaeologists when they recently re-opened, after something like seven hundred years remaining basically undisturbed, the muliple-edificed Aedicule within the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, all the way down to the bare stone on which the body of Jesus Christ was laid.
This answered a question as to what was meant, the last time it was opened, when an observer recorded his impression, that it became obvious to all present that this was certainly the very tomb of Jesus.
Before that, the inference take was that an overabundance of ancient Christian graffiti promoted the observer to make that observation.
Don’t think this is right...He could not keep it open....
“There has been an ongoing debate for many years over where Jesus was crucified and buried — “
Anyone who thinks Christianity lost track of where Jesus was crucified or buried is an idiot.
