I realize you didn’t write the headline—and the headline writer may have opted for the wrong word in hopes of getting the general point across. Still, there is a big difference in set up. In one instance, a man looks for begetting children at a rate that is arguably unnatural. In the other, the woman looks for an unnatural level of support.
