How big was the ancient Direwolf? There are lots of incorrect images going around so I’ve created this one. Firstly Direwolves were not Game of Thrones Direwolf size, they were far similar to our current largest Gray Wolf. Please read below:
The dire wolf was about the same size as the largest modern forms of Gray wolf (Canis lupus): the Yukon wolf and the north-western wolf.
The largest northern wolves today have a shoulder height of up to 97 cm (38 in) and a body length of 180 cm (69 in). Some dire wolf specimens from Rancho La Brea Tar Pits are smaller than this, and some are larger.
Scientists also suggest that there were two subspecies of DireWolf: dirus guildayi who had shorter limbs and longer teeth which was discovered in California and Mexico , he weighed on average 60 kilograms (132 lb) and dirus dirus who was found east of the North American Continental Divide, with longer limbs and shorter teeth. He was on average 68 kg (150 lb).
The Direwolfs’ skull and dentition matched those of Canis lupus, but its teeth were larger with greater shearing ability, and its bite force at the canine tooth was stronger than any known Canis species.
The dire wolf did however have smaller feet and a larger head when compared with a northern wolf of the same body size. The skull length could reach up to 310 mm (12 in) or longer, with a broader palate, frontal region, and zygomatic arches compared with the Yukon wolf. These dimensions make the skull very massive.
But height wise - No they were not towering over our largest Gray Wolves - but probably looking them in the eye...

Long story short, Senator Chris Van Hollen got totally REJECTED today when he demanded a meeting with Kilmar Abrego Garcia by the El Salvador Vice President.
The VP said - you’ll have to arrange that through the Trump administration.
