Ukrainian officials and military analysts have warned that Russian forces are preparing a fresh offensive in the coming weeks, aiming to intensify pressure on Ukraine and strengthen Moscow's position in potential ceasefire negotiations.
The anticipated push could lead Russian President Vladimir Putin to delay peace talks in favour of pursuing further territorial gains, Ukrainian officials said.
They reiterated long-standing claims that Russia has no genuine interest in meaningful negotiations to end the war.
As the spring fighting season approaches, analysts and military commanders report that the Kremlin is planning a multi-front assault across the 1,000-kilometre frontline.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, citing intelligence, said Russian forces are preparing new offensives in the northeastern Sumy and Kharkiv regions, as well as in Zaporizhzhia.

Russia won’t negotiate until they believe their desired gains are solidified, either on the battlefield or through Ukrainian capitulation.
And I believe they would be foolish to do so.

Because he didn’t refuse to do a ceasefire. It appears Zelensky and his EU comrades do not want a ceasefire either unless they get to dictate all the terms.
Now, I really do not care. They can both fight it out and we can withdraw from the whole mess and let the EU deal with it.

Putin wants victory. He wants to gain every advantage possible through continued military action.
Peace achieved through victory is what every combatant since time immemorial has wanted.
As long as Zelensky is in charge, there will be war. I suspect that as soon as Zelensky is removed (however that is achieved) that a negotiated peace will soon follow, and by “peace” I mean victory for Russia, however they decide to define it.
The negotiations will not be complicated.

Ukraine attacked Russian energy infrastructure from March 22 to march 24 which no doubt 'increased pressure' on Russia, (details below the ~~~line). So the news that Russia is said to be planning an offensive is not surprising.
Zelensky has publicly said repeatedly that the Ukraine will not make any concessions and that Russia must return all land to the Ukraine - which would hit the 'Reset' button on NATO's proxy war. Why would Putin want a repeat war? Zelensky continues to sabotague peace negotiations so the war continues - this is not a surprise.

This is a tedious game played by NATO and Ukraine. They did provoke this war, and Russia attacked. When in discussions, they insist that 'Russia attacked' was the start, not the result of their provocations. So Trump can't say 'Ukraine attacked' and as head of state, he is not going to say the American State Department and CIA atttacked and overthrew the Ukraine. All Trump can say at this point, given he can't say 'Well the CIA shouldn't have overthrown the Ukraine to harness the Ukraine as NATO's proxy', is that Ukraine shouldn't have let the war start.That blame, starting the war, lands on people like Zelensky and the UN and NATO. But pulling the UN and NATO responsibility for the war into any Ukrainian peace negotiations will NOT help.
Russia submitted documentation to the UN regarding the biowarfare labs in the Ukraine, which he said were experimenting on the unwitting populace, and on Russian soldiers, and were located upwind of Russia. The US and UN sneered that such claims were 'baseless.'
NATO knew that Putin would not tolerate NATO missiles on his border, just as the US would not tolerate Chinese missiles on our border. But, NATO wanted war so that organization stated that Ukraine would be admitted into NATO.
NATO built an army and fortifications in Ukraine before provoking Russia. Trump is only going to talk about and focus on content that helps bring peace. NATO/MSM/Globalists keep bringing the conversation back to 'Russia invaded' as a means of denying their guilt in creating their proxy war in the Ukraine. Zelensky is bought and paid for - he serves the globalists purposes. If he was a decent man, he would have negotiated to spare Ukrainian citizen lives, but he took the money instead. He's not a volunteer.

US set to present 30-day ceasefire offer to Russia 12 March 2025
Ukraine has said it is ready to accept an immediate 30-day ceasefire with Russia proposed by the US, after a day of US-Ukraine talks in Saudi Arabia.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he would present the offer to Russia and that "the ball is in their court" - Moscow is yet to publicly comment on the issue.

Donald Trump began his conversation with Vladimir Putin with a simple demand: a 30-day ceasefire on land, sea and air which Ukraine has already signed up to, as an initial measure on which to build towards a peace.
Instead, what the US president got from Putin were questions, half-offers and limited concessions – and, above all, an extraordinary demand from the Russian leader to weaken Ukraine that would make a mockery of any peace agreement.
The “key condition” for resolving the conflict, the Kremlin said in a statement after the call, should be “the complete cessation of foreign military aid and the provision of intelligence information to Kyiv”.
That means halting military support not just from the US but from all Ukraine’s foreign backers, including Britain, France and all those putting together plans for a post-conflict “reassurance force” intended to provide a long-term security guarantee to Kyiv, allowing it to open its ports and airports, and safeguard utility supplies.
