Bench seats and necking knobs!
I learned to drive on a standard. Owned a few cars with standard transmission. Also owned an old Duster that had three on the column. I’m old now and my legs and knees wouldn’t be able to deal with working a clutch. Any car I drive needs to have power seats as I have a bad left shoulder (told I need a full shoulder replacement). I’m left handed...can’t pump a seat up anymore with that hand. I’m kind of wishing they’d bring back the automated seatbelts because with the car I drive now, I have trouble reaching back to grab the belt and pull it forward across my body to lock it in. It sucks to get old.
The reason bench seats are no longer standard is there would have to be a center airbag for a passenger and it would take up too much room in the dash.............
If a car could be transgender, this would be it. No thanks.
I question your judgement in letting a valet get behind the wheel of that.
Yes, but the girl would be sitting so close to the driver with his arm around her that his airbag would protect them both. Maybe you’re not old enough to remember that.
I’m 70. The driver’s airbag would be insufficient to protect two bodies. They have to be precisely calculated or they won’t be reliable...................
Thanks for the post.
I was totally unaware of the vehicle.
With AWD, it would have been awesome.
About the equivalent of exhaust pipe speakers on an electric car.
I would buy a real stick over a CVT, but the only cars with the real thing now are $$ luxury sports cars. Out of my budget.
My 04 & 07 Sonatas have decent 4 speed trannies with a 5th overdrive. At 73 I’m hoping to keep them both going until I’m dead. No more cars.
At least I can put the miles on my Indian Scout. Honda has sold a lot of Rebel 1100 DCT. I’m guessing to new riders based on the number of used ones for sale - the bike is too fast for a beginner. No way would I ride a bike with an auto. Just ain’t right. No fun and poor low speed control without a clutch to feather.
This is ridiculous. It’s not enough Ford has Hundreds of millions on EV’s. Now we have this stupdity
You are probably right, but the valet that drives it, fell in love with it. He parks it in the best spot and watches it like a hawk. Ya can’t leave it in a parking lot unattended.
For far to many, driving with a clutch is like reading something written in cursive.
My wife’s subaru has a “10 speed” CVT. There are shift points programmed into the CVT that simulates the transmission “shifting”. You can even put the stick in manual and use the paddle shifters...on a CVT.
It seemed silly when we bought it but it works well and the car is awesome.
The bad part of manual transmissions are the parts that wear out. I saved a lot of money replacing those parts myself but it is not an easy job . The amazing part was seeing the inside of the manual transmission itself. How anybody could design such complex gears much less make them always impressed me.
A fake standard? GAY !!
That recorded exhaust note is cringeworthy, but everything coming from greenies is cringeworthy.
The sales numbers are dismal for the Dodge Charger EV and some are saying that Stellantis is going to be putting Hemi’s in them next year.
I’m not exactly sure what the point is for doing this. It adds nothing to the performance, it’s just pretending.................
