People who speak out about how they feel after getting a vaccine should not be dismissed or assumed to be anti-vaxxers..

For starters, they chose to be vaxxed in the first place. Ping!

“”Vaccine injuries deserve more attention””

Vaccine crimes deserve more attention

There, fixed it

Articles like this (and I’ve seen a few lately) miss the point.

The authors always assume that the problem is that scientists just aren’t communicating effectively or with empathy. But there is another issue they overlook completely: the fact that antivaxxers are extremely good at creating antivax rhetoric. Their rhetoric is not random: they specifically create the rhetoric to undermine the scientific message. The antivaxxers who create the rhetoric are, in most cases, highly educated in a STEM field and understand the science well enough to be able to create lies that the average person cannot distinguish from real science.

Until the scientific community comes up with a good counter to targeted, specifically-written antivax propaganda, we’re always going to be fighting this battle.

Another aspect of the problem is the deterioration of our educational system. Teaching kids nonsense like “Heather has two mommies” at the expense of science and mathematics has created a couple of generations of people who are completely unable to think critically or to discern unscientific nonsense from real science. Antivaxxers take a lot of advantage of people who were failed by the education system.

- In the STAT piece, Corbett-Helaire listed concrete steps that everyone in the vaccine field—herself included—should take. These steps include establishing a better system through which people can report vaccine-related injuries -

wish someone could locate the Amazing Polly podcast that detailed the questions and precise injuries that could be reported on the VAERS form.

can’t think of anyone else who exposed how this prevented reporting of most injuries.

“The only way that science can move forward is if it’s strategically funded,” she said on the podcast.

Thursday this week, a young woman at the gym was clutching her heart while doing cardio.

I asked her if she was ok: “I was forced by my health care employer to take the Johnson and Johnson Covid vaccine. I came down with Premature Ventricular Contractions two weeks later. I’m damaged for life.”
