Not surprising. I used to drive a school bus for ‘special needs’ students. A fight broke out between a 6’ tall, 190 lb 14 year old and a 17 year old girl, a VERY tough young woman, after he jumped on the bus and sucker punched her. My attendant and I stepped between them and broke up the fight probably saving the boy some serious injuries.

A couple of days later, I was called into my supervisor’s office and told that I should have let them fight and just called the cops. I protested, saying that neither my attendant nor I hit the students, just stood between them, and that there could have been serious injury, if the fight continued. Then, the supervisor suggested that the boy could have had a knife. My response was that, as it was the trip home from school, if he had a knife, it would likely have been discovered by school staff.

Yup, it becomes a lose lose situation for the teacher, damned if they do and like the comments here, damned if they don’t.

That said, 2 decent sized male teachers could have easily grabbed the shirt collar and pulled him off.
