Nearly every demographic group moved noticeably rightward in America’s recent election. Even young women — among the most reliably left-leaning voting blocs — moved away from monolithic support for Democrats, but a significant gender gap of over 20 points persists between Gen Z women and men. Trump got only 33% of the 18-29 female vote in 2020; he got 40% in 2024. Compare this with 41% of the male vote in the same age group in 2020 and 49% in 2024.
Triumphalism at Trump’s victory should not obscure the long-term challenge posed by that gap.
This gender gap is often blamed on the rightward move of young men. Not so.
Women worldwide are moving left. “The trend in most countries has been one of women shifting left, while men stand still,” wrote John Burn-Murdoch in the Financial Times during fall 2024. Young men are drifting left by some measures as well, but with nowhere near the speed and enthusiasm of women.
Young women are the voter base of nearly every far-left political party and political cause in the modern world, from the German Left to Spain’s Socialist Workers Party. Estimates suggest that college-educated women made up nearly a third of the Democrat base in 2023, a proportion that has doubled in a generation. Young women, especially unmarried ones, broke hard for the Democrats in the United States in 2020 and 2022. They still broke for Harris in 2024, but not as hard. The Democrat Party is the single women’s party, as their media allies sometimes say.
Liberal young women support abortion on-demand, racial favoritism, gay rights, gun control, open borders, tax increases, and green energy. Brookings argues that young women are most interested in “sexual harassment, domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, and mental health problems.” A recent poll found that white women with college degrees have opinions far different from white men with or without college degrees and white women without college degrees. Unlike the other groups which are either sour or neutral on DEI and the war in Ukraine, for instance, white women with college degrees favor DEI by 31% and the war by 53%. They hate DOGE and Trump. They are hardly concerned about bread-and-butter issues like economic growth, unemployment or budget deficits. Young, credentialed women increasingly aspire to suppress speech in workplaces and through laws.

Human evolution, which occurs primarily during tribal warfare, selects for highly brainwash-able females. When one tribe defeats another, the winners take all their women, and the women either warm up to their new bosses quickly or get killed off. That's where Stockholm Syndrome comes from, and it is a critical female survival strategy.
Knowing this, young women can be, and should be, brainwashed for their own good. Instead, they are being brainwashed by the deep state for big government. Most women have been brainwashed that socialism is their best hope of restoring traditional one income families with stay at home mothers again. But history shows, socialism will get them little more than standing in long lines for substandard products, and poverty.

I paid a lawyer too much money to try to represent me and win custody. But he was worthless so I fired him. I hired another but he was worthless too. Practically penniless, in part by paying over $1,100/month child support for her "temporary" sole custody (decades ago that was big money), I learned how to represent myself in court (pro se) and won custody. To FReeper T.B. Yoits's point about the courts being unfair to men: the court made my ex pay child support to me, but not nearly as much as I paid her even though I had custody many more years than she did. But to FReeper DoodleBob's point about us conservatives shouldn't whine like liberal women, most of us conservatives are believers in the Almighty God! My faith is not in the laws or courts of man but in the love and power and grace of God. I'm cool with a temporary low time of feeling the blues. But don't stay there forever. Our God is large and in charge and He calls us His kids. (Thank you Jesus)

She lives on a budget with me, which is something I could never persuade my ex to do. (Thank you, Jesus)
With God's blessing and some sound financial planning, she retired in her mid-50's and I'm quasi-retired in my mid-50's to have time to take care of our elder parents. (Thank you, Jesus)
Meanwhile, I every now and then get collection calls for my ex.

Interesting information that I was unaware of.
It makes me glad I married a smoking hot hillbilly who doesn’t have a college degree.
I’m not a gambler, but I always want favorable odds.
Dude. Women are by far the ones who file for divorce over men. Men will be unhappy but continue on. Women will put their happiness over the marriage and kids a majority of the time. Then the culture rewards them for doing so. They get the kids, the money, the home, the retirement… it goes on and on. The instances of abusive men are a vast minority of cases.
Yeah, men to to man up. Always. But when women are rewarded for destroying a family, the odds are stacked against men. That’s the facts.
I thank God every day that I have a good, good woman. All her and my faults, we know for a fact we are better together.
