The stricken sister of a tragic 15-year-old special-needs teen tortured to death by their “executioner’’ cousin told a Manhattan judge Monday that she still misses her “baby’’ every day.
“I’m still waiting for a phone call to hear, ‘Hey, Sis, I miss you,’ ” an emotional Mykarsha Rogers told the judge — who ended up sentencing killer Johnette Booker to 20 years behind bars.
Rogers’ sibling, Jallen McConnie, who was believed to be autistic, died in a hellhole home in the Wise Towers on West 94th Street and Columbus Avenue in June 2021 after horrific torture from the 43-year-old Booker, her brother and another male relative.

20 years for torturing a special needs child to death? Is that some sort of joke?
The first 3 sentences are enough for me to get what happened.
I don’t really need to read the entire article, and I don’t want to read such a tragic tale.
At least now, this sadistic ghoul is in lock up, where she belongs.
New York is a sick place these days. They’ve been given over to reprobate mind.
Johnette Booker - future Demonicrat presidential nominee.
And no, you don’t need to look.
L
It’s them again, Yogi.
I got yelled at the last time I said that LOL
20 YEARS?!?!?!?!
Bring back the death penalty.
And it’s not cruel.
What most murderers to their victims is far, far worse. If they can dish it out, they should be able to take it.
All three of them together murdered a helpless 15-year-old. The charges and sentences are too light. They all should be sentenced to life in prison. The punishment should be the death penalty, but NY no longer has it.
Or Johnny B’s woodchipper.
How to calculate a murder sentence: divide a reasonable sentence for one killer by the number of perpetrators.
IMO, assault by a group should be aggravating. In practice, it’s mitigating.
Exactly!
I’m suspecting there was foster care money involved
Irrelevant. The trial and the punishment are for crimes already committed. Don't punish me bro I won't do it again. what the hell?
Jallen, who had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, ADHD and oppositional defiant disorder,
... so she sent him to her cousin who agreed to take care of him "boot camp" style. They thought they were going to straighten up a defiant teen. Remember Trayvon? His mother couldn't handle him and sent him to his father? Sounds like the same sort of deal. Now of course, beating him to death is not the answer, but I don't think they did it out of pure sadism. I think they got a defiant teen they couldn't handle, and lost their tempers.
I agree.
Thanks for the synopsis. In the end, it’s up to each caregiver to determine when a child’s dysfunctional behavior is over what that caregiver can or is willing to handle.
At that point, you need to ask for backup or relocation of that child. It’s easy for me to say that. Maybe they did ask for help through the system, and there wasn’t any.
Mykarsha? Tell me doc; can it be cured?
“Why you can spell my name? Is you racist? Why yo be disrespectin’ me?”
I’m convinced there’s been an ongoing conspiracy in black culture to make up bizarre names for their kids so they’ll grow up perpetually pissed off hating whitey...when actually NO one has a clue how to spell them.
I should set up one of those ‘Convince Me I’m Wrong’ tables.
Yeah, it's hard to tell. The system is completely overwhelmed because so many kids are getting "diagnosed" with autism, and ADHD, and ODD, and CPTSD, and once that happens they are labeled "special needs." I filled out a lot of questionnaires when I was a teacher, and it seems to me that kids are diagnosed very quickly and easily nowadays. The schools get extra money for "special needs" kids, and it doesn't mean what it used to mean. You see that headline and you picture a child in a wheelchair or with a severe learning disability. But... I don't know.
