The world’s most expensive — and unique — dog has sold for a fetching $5.7 million. Being the first of its kind, this is pooch is a cross between an actual wolf and a Caucasian Shepherd — which can sound like a sci-fi movie plot.

An Indian dog enthusiast barked up the big bucks for the “wolfdog” named Cadabomb Okami, touted as the rarest dog in the world.

This extravagant pup was born in the US and is only eight months old — but already weighs over 165 lbs and is 30 inches tall.

Being part Shepherd, at heart Okami is a guardian breed — known for its protective instincts and intelligence — that “should never be taken lightly,” according to the American Kennel Club. Knowing this, Okami will make for a good watchdog.

I used to have a 3 lb Chihuahua who thought he was as vicious as a wolf.

Big dogs are fantastic. Love big dog stories. Used to get a lot of "Look at the pony!" when I was out on walks.

Will top out over 220lbs, aggressive and can bite a 2 x 4 in half cleanly.

And like all wolf hybrids virtually untrainable.

Very cute, but illegal in my state as a halfling. Behavioral issues tend to persist. This is something oligarchs buy as a vicious guard dog.

They don’t know about my dog.
Else they wouldn’t write this crap.

“...touted as the rarest dog in the world...”
My posterior!

I don’t think a Wolfhound has any similarity to a Wolfdog.

I made no claim that it did. The dog my father had was an independent event from the wolf/dog I had.

Nice pup. I was out with friends at the J Street marina in the late 70s. One of the regular attendees showed up with his Great Dane. 250 lbs of pup. The dog had his own room at home and rode in the back of the pickup truck between home and the marina. At some point he acquired a saddle and his son rode up and down the beach on the dog.

I homed a full blooded wolf for 14 yrs. Smartest protective animal I ever had.
We were back in the garden when Nicky took off and jumped the front fence. I ran up to see why. A guy had stopped and tried to kidnap the 5 yr old girl who lived next door. She chewed the guy up good. Steak for supper.
Only one of many stories about her.

My Tyras was a rescue.
Actually all my dogs are and had been rescues.
Tyras was two years old when I adopted him.
He went through 5 foster homes and nobody wanted to adopt him, because he is deaf. That didn't bother me and it didn't bother the dog. LOL
Because of his deafness, I bought him a vibrating collar. If he has his back turned to me and can't hear me, I give him a very gentle vibration to get his attention. Besides that, he is just like any other dog.
He is a very loving, loyal dog. I can't say enough good things about him.
He's also a big goof ball, always ready for a bit of trouble making. Like stealing a couple of bananas from the kitchen counter and hiding them under my bed. 😅😅😆

Clapping enthusiastically. GREAT story and sounds like a great dog. Was Nicky affectionate at home?

My 1st wolfhound rode in the backseat of my Vega. Once on the highway, he knew I couldn’t discipline him and would squeeze into the front passenger seat. Of course he didn’t fit, so he’d be half onto my lap knocking my shift out of gear. Always heartstopping at speed. I can still feel the weight of his head on my shoulder.

I got my first from a “soldier of fortune” who had the mother. All the pups had generalized demodectic mange, came to find out. We were the last to get to the specialized vet in the area and he said they’d been waiting for us to show up. Poor babe lost all his fur and the walls were covered with blood spots from blood dripping off his wildly wagging tail. Used to scrub him down with a tuffy in the tub and take him to bed wrapped in a huge bath towel to keep him warm. Did get him cured. Great dog. The ones with problems dig into our hearts the deepest. Good for you and give yours a pet for us.

My pup was no where near wolfhound size. I can imagine that was a challenge.

He was taller than I was on his backlegs and his head was bigger than mine. He reached down to steal the roast from the kitchen counter. Made me laugh all the time. Made the mistake of once trying to run with him on a leash. Never tried that again once I got myself cleaned up.

My dad had a similar experience with his Russian wolfhound. My Wolf/Collie cross had his day with the family meal. Mom had cut a nice steak into strips for a Chinese pepper steak dinner. The slices were marinating in a bowl on the kitchen counter. My pup placed both front paws on the counter on either side of the bowl and consumed every bit. He was usually better behaved, but not that afternoon.
