“Real Time” host Bill Maher warned Democrats that their party may face the same fate as the Whigs if they don’t embrace deregulation.
During Friday’s panel discussion, Maher sounded the alarm on the NBC poll that showed Democrats had only a 27% approval rating, a record low for the party.
“I’ve never seen one this bad,” Maher reacted.

LOL. You are of course 100% correct. The Whigs had serious ideological problems between the Northern and Southern factions over the slavery issue which ended up breaking the party. But even the most disreputable Whig of the 1850s never dreamed of the level of corruption and cynicism that is a prerequisite for today's Democrat politician.
I don't understand how anyone can have been blindsided by the Trump victory and subsequent fallout that is damaging the MSM, Hollywood, and all the long-venerated Liberal institutions, etc.
The Trump momentum before and during the campaign has been like an express locomotive visible from miles away. Liberals just stood there thumbing their noses at the train while it got closer and louder!
HOW are they surprised, confused and unprepared for the disaster they just experienced?
Along those same lines, I am staggered by the current state of the News Media:
Republicans have the people.
Republicans have the White House.
Republicans have the House.
Republicans have the Senate.
Republicans have (theoretically) the Supreme Court.
Republicans have most of the Governorships.
Leftwing legacy News outlets are losing audience rapidly.
Leftwing Legacy News has lost the USAID gravy boat.
Trump is moving from strength to strength, constantly winning in almost all areas.
And the MSM is 100% focused on “Let’s fight this guy! We must beat him! We have no audience! We embarrass ourselves daily! But we must constantly strive against the tide! We will make everything about the 0.018% of the population which is transgender! Nothing else matters!”
It’s crazy.

They are acting AS IF they don’t have to face a very popular and powerful Conservative in the next national election
They will still be unprepared, if they don’t get a grip soon!
We had all this happy talk at the beginning of Trump’s first term, too. The reality is that if the Dems jettison the crazy and get back to kitchen table issues like inflation and home affordability they are well positioned to regain votes. Add in their lock on the gibsmedat segment of the electorate and I expect we will continue to have divided government in our future.
