“Real Time” host Bill Maher warned Democrats that their party may face the same fate as the Whigs if they don’t embrace deregulation.
During Friday’s panel discussion, Maher sounded the alarm on the NBC poll that showed Democrats had only a 27% approval rating, a record low for the party.
“I’ve never seen one this bad,” Maher reacted.

Evil must be relentlessly and continuously be beaten down. Beat evil down here today and by tomorrow it will raise its ugly head over there. The cost to be paid is eternal vigilance. Evil must be confronted each time it rears its ugly head. And the doers of evil must be punished each time they are caught. The Democrat Party is alive and well. AS long as they are evil people, there will be a Democrat Party. When the opportunity arises they will strike again and will strike hard.
I will argue that the failure to face deregulation is not the Whig inducing problem.
The problem that can not be remedied is corruption derived money that is now gone
The evil can not exist with out the money that has been taken away
No, not like the Whigs. The Whig party didn’t really go away. It merged with the Free Soil, Anti-Mason, and Liberty parties to form the Republican party. Who are the Democrats going to merge with? The Libertarians won’t have them and the various commie parties have never won an election anyway.
Their parents and grandparents were all Democrats.
Is it broccoli? Please tell me it's broccoli, that stuff needs a shooting to put it out of my misery.
He’s like a bee that stings. Or a wasp that does it again. It works, especially with the left as his comments don’t need as much truth element to get a laugh. Good for the non-thinkers.
Yeah...since I tried to have a conversation with young family members during the Floyd fiasco (they could not say All lives matter and could not have a conversation) I have remained quiet, except when I told my son the Dem party were commies now. I think most have now figured it out...but they won’t admit it. Now these kids are in their 30s, and watching their paychecks and DOGE!
No, they were not.
I think the USAID-Politico nexus is far more important than most people realize. As the money from that dries out, I predict that the democrat party will splinter. The far-left, that last 27%, will create their own party or at least a sub-group within the Democrat party, much like Republicans had the Tea Party. The rest of the Democrats will move the official party back towards the center, even if they get branded as DINOs.
Not having MSM to cover for their more outlandish positions will, by itself, force the party back towards the middle. We’re already seeing evidence of that in the drop in percentage of teens who identify as transgender - it’s a leading indicator IMHO.
Not for the first time, I wish FR had a "like" button.

Bingo.
Not many. DINOs like RFK Jr and Tulsi Gabbard are MAGA now.
The Democratic Party will just double down with their far-left ideology.
But the Democrat party of today would be unrecognizable to the Democrats of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Do you really think Tip O'Neill would have put up with AOC? Besides, we've heard it a million times - "I didn't move right, the party moved left."
If the entire party does that, they'll never win another national election again, and they know it. Power will eventually matter more than ideology.
Nothing is forever. But maybe for the next 20 years. If it came to that, the Republicans will eventually lose due to corruption. So naturally, there will be an opening for the Democrats sometime in the future.
Besides the Rat party is the “Something-For-Nothing” party or as the late P.J O’Rourke called them “The Santa Claus” party. There’s always market for that type of thinking!
Their best chance is if someone gets Harold Ford to run. By today’s standards he is central-left. But he speaks like a reasonable person who you could discuss an issue with.
Not radical enough to win the primaries.
