There’s not much I can tell you about Gary Sinise that you don’t already know. His resume, his talent, his humility, his devotion to serving our veterans, and his extraordinary philanthropy are all a matter of public record. You might also know that his son Mac lost his battle with a rare and especially cruel form of cancer last year. And you might have also known, as I did, that Mac was a musician. What you might not know was the level of talent Mac Sinise possessed, or the extraordinary work he managed to complete during the last and the most difficult days of his life. Honestly, I don’t have the words to articulate Gary’s grief or the beauty of Mac’s music—some of which Gary discovered after his son’s untimely death. Along with his other good work, Gary is doing all he can to get Mac’s music out there. This episode is my attempt to help. At the end of our conversation, we play a composition called The Rise, with full orchestra. You’ll love it.
Gary spoke about his son’s talent once, and was truly in awe of the talent. Sad way to go- Gary is one of the most decent people to come put of Hollywood with the work he does for veterans and others. He is a tireless worker for veterans. Veterans are truly lucky to have him advocating for them

💯.
I worked with Mac at Gary Sinise Foundation and he was definitely his father’s son. Quiet, unassuming and humble. His long illness prevented him from coming into the office often but his presence was always felt. I knew of his death months before it was announced. Gary, Moira and Mac’s sisters were truly devastated. Requiescat in pace McCanna.
I heard a great interview Gary did with Ben Shapiro last November. He talked a lot about his son’s music and recording. Very moving.
I struggle with why the good seem to die young and the old and wicked live very long lives. I know this is an age old question and is dealt with in the Bible, but it just bothers me. So sad.
