I’m still waiting for the Disneys to get off their liberal asses and do a WHITE version of one of my favorite movies. “Song of the South”. Steve Martin and his banjo would make an excellent Uncle Remus.
YouTube critics are absolutely roasting Disney mercilessly on how bad this re-make no one asked for is.
Kathleen Kennedy: βPut another gay diverse woman in it, make it more lame!β
SouthPark
In this “Snow White”, I’m rooting for the apple.
Disney can still do a re-shoot with “her” as Snow White and Whoopi Goldberg as the evil queen.
I really shouldn’t be giving Disney any ideas...
I donβt think the audience for this even knows about the problems. They just go to movies.
I donβt think will underperform as much as people think it will.
Ignorance is bliss.
The Hollywierd will continue to produce the “fart circle new speak” nonsense until the money runs out that finances it.
Having a wicked queen (Gal Gadot) who is infinitely hotter than Taco Belle (who is a foul person) is also a major mistake.
Not to mention Taco Belle going on a βFree Palestineβ rant in front of said former Israeli Krav Maga instructor.
Everyone knows these days if you want to make a portrayal of a German fairy tail according present German standards, you need to employ a West African - not a Mexican.
This movie, like Little Mermaid, were doomed the minute they replaced the whitest characters ever with diversity picks. These 2 movies would have earned big bucks if they had cast them correctly and then filmed the same movie as the original with minor changes.
Disney fans would have gone to see them and merchandise would have sold for decades more.
HollyWierd deserves everything the get. Hope they go bankrupt.
I just watched some of the trailers. The movie looks adorable to me and the actress fits the part just fine. I don’t know what the heck all this hand rubbing is, but I think the movie will be fine. And the dwarfs look good too. The animals are adorable. The queen looks fine. I don’t know what y’all are talking about.
It will probably fill theaters for the first week as today’s young teen crowd goes to see what the hubbbub is all about, then crash a week later.
With all of Disney’s racist flips, let them crash and burn. This particular movie has had controversy since day one. You’d have thought they’d read the writing on the wall two years ago and shut down production. Not that they’ll learn a lesson from this.
We’ll see in a few days whether the frenetic energy of the well-funded Disney publicity machine can cover up the holes in the fabric, but advance sales aren’t looking good. Plenty of corporate toadies acting as critics have gushed over the thing by now but there’s going to be a little sales resistance that most movies don’t experience, and Rachel Zegler is largely (but not solely) to blame. Somebody a little more mature - her parents, her agent, her director, her producer - needed to let her know that she isn’t an artiste, she isn’t a romantic revolutionary, she’s put in the work and now she’s a salesman, and her repeated public announcements of political correctitude are roughly as seductive as a vacuum cleaner salesman throwing dirt on your carpet and then departing. You’re not going to sell a lot of vacuum cleaners that way.
I expect this film will lose in excess of $400 Million, Needs almost $900 Million to even break even.
There is another expensive film out there I did not know about called The Electric State on Netflix with a budget of over $300 Million. They should have released it to try and make some of that money back.
Number of expensive movies still to come out and I wonder how they will do.
I doubt anybody is actually panicking. These “live action” remakes don’t usually make money. A couple have, which got Disney some big eyes, but mostly they don’t. But they are great for renewing copyright. Which keeps the other gravy train rolling in just fine.
