My personal preference has always been this — GET GOVERNMENT OUT OF THE BUSINESS OF PICKING AND CHOOSING WHICH TYPE OF VEHICLES PEOPLE SHOULD DRIVE.
Let the makers compete to produce something that is value for money.
Eventually, technology and innovation will meet what customers demand.

I wonder what would be more cost effective.....
Taking fines the government may impose on you for failure to make the quota on EV production....
Or continue to lose billions of dollars making them?

Eventually, technology and innovation will meet what customers demand. That is the way it started out on FR. Just stop subsidies.
However that seemed to slowly morph into hating the whole EV and solar industry.

Absolutely. The best thing the government can do about electric cars is to ... do nothing. Capitalism will solve the problem if government gets out of the way. Doesn't it hurt a battery to crank up the charging voltage too high?

(Our biggest problem, by far, is that almost all of big media is AGENDA-DRIVEN, not-truth driven.)
