Americans should eat more of these invasive animals, say experts

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) has released a list of five invasive animals that Americans can hunt, catch and cook.

Eating invasive species can help protect native wildlife by reducing the numbers and limiting the damage these species cause to ecosystems, FWS spokesperson Erin Huggins wrote in her list, which was published on the agency's website.

Fox News Digital spoke to various chefs and hunters to get their take on the flavor profiles of these invasive but "downright delicious" animals.

1. Nutria
2. Northern snakehead
3. Green iguana
4. Invasive carp
5. Feral hogs/wild boar

The northern snakehead should never be confused with the southern snakehead.

Right now the DemonRATS are eating each other. These things will have to wait their turn.

We are not supposed to eat unclean animals. Make them into boots instead.

Invasive carp

Invasive; is that like illegal alien carp? Besides, I thought eating carp causes carpal tunnel syndrome.

Shouldn’t we call them undocumented species instead? And offer them our own pets to eat instead of shoot them?

The more of something a population eats the more they will get.

Nutria, a type of rat (courtesy of Seinfeld...) is said to damage vegetation and destroy wetland habitats.

Are the green Lefties going to go for them being released into the wild?

I’ll stick with chicken cows and pigs. I’ll take some deer sausage if people give it to me.

At least carp are easy to catch. You can use your shoe as bait and they’ll bite.

Feral hog meat IF YOU GET IT FROM A HOG UNDER ~200 POUNDS, tastes just like store-bought pork.

Got a lot of feral hog sausage in the garage freezer 😉

And eating iguana is like eating alligator. Eat the right parts, fried. Feed the rest to the wild hogs.

They forgot the #1 invasive species in every country it’s been introduced, a perennial favorite of Chinese chefs around the globe, and that is the outdoor house cat.

THE single most destructive force for small mammals and birds everywhere, this unrelenting predator has single-handedly driven innumerable songbirds to extinction in the Hawaiian islands and island communities elsewhere; a prolific breeder, Trap-Neuter-Release has failed everywhere it has been attempted to control the population of this killing machine.

Help save wildlife: do your part to eradicate outdoor house cats.

What about the largest invasive species? I.e horses. Horses were unknown in the Americas until Spaniards brought them over in the 16th century. Oh wait, they're protected by the Wild Horse and Burro Act as symbol of the “Old West” or something.

We are not supposed to eat unclean animals. Make them into boots instead.

He Jews weren't but God removed that restriction in Acts 10.

Still a case might be able to be built that they are not so good for you health wise.

That said, use them for pet food ifn someone doesn't want to eat them.

Or just kill on sight.

I’m not sure that nutria can compete with possum and sweet tater pie...

“The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) has released a list of five invasive animals that Americans can hunt, catch and cook.”

I wonder if a license will be required? I’ll have to research this. I have my licensing but I don’t have a hunting license because I no longer hunt but I trap and I fish salt and fresh - hook or spear.
