A disgruntled United Airlines passenger punched a gate agent in the face which knocked the airport staffer to the ground, leaving him unconscious.
The violent outburst happened last Thursday evening at 5:30pm at Virginia's Dulles International Airport by gate D12 when Christopher Stuart Crittenden, a 54-year-old man from Frederick, Maryland, suddenly lost control and lashed out.
Video footage, which has since gone viral, captures the moment as Crittenden strides toward the gate agent and without warning swings his fist striking the unsuspecting employee squarely in the face.
The force of the impact was so severe the agent instantly fell to floor.
As the short four second clip suddenly ended bystanders were heard gasping in horror.
Officers from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority quickly arrested Crittenden and charged him with assault and disorderly conduct.
The injured gate agent was left badly shaken and taken to a local hospital, where he received treatment for his injuries.
Officials have not explained was triggered Crittenden's outburst but other passengers who witnessed what happened say it all began with a canceled flight.

Could be both. But gate folks aren’t really in charge of very much that goes wrong.
At one time when you flew one was a valued customer.
Now they treat you as cattle.
People like this guy think
#1. The Airlines halfway expect wild and crazy confrontation from their customers a few times a month.
#2. Since “everybody’s acting out these days” they will probably get away with it, and Go Viral on the Internet too!
This fellow was described as a Firefighter Captain.
I don’t know if he is still a Captain after this conduct most unbecoming.
No-fly list, at least one night in jail, probably a lawsuit coming up.
>> Since “everybody’s acting out these days” they will probably get away with it, and Go Viral on the Internet too!
I know that’s been MY lifelong goal, ever since I was a puppy. Yours too, right? ROFL!
>> at least one night in jail
To start with!
>> probably a lawsuit coming up.
AFTER the criminal trial... and a few more “nights in jail”...
This is criminal behavior. In a just society, it needs to be dealt with forthrightly.
Who knows what the gate clown said andtried to stop the guy for.
Have had my monets with unreasonabqal gate types.
Tried to board with a barely filled fanny pack and shoulder bag.
Was told only one of them allowed.
An overstuffed wallet A-OK?
I do not like crap in my pockets
WTF??
Looked like a typical “fight or flight” response.
Wow, it didn’t look like he hit him that hard, but he dropped the guy.
An airline employee "being difficult" does NOT warrant decking him.
Regards,
That sweet disposition must be aging. He looks about 75.
Probably the same type person who thinks he’s so special that the firelane in front of the grocery store is his reserved parking space.
Just wait until May 7th when the TSA will require Real_ID and dozens or maybe hundreds of travelers are failing their ID checks.

I’m sure we’ll get airport brawling video gold from those people who are for some reason never described in news stories.
It’s assault and battery.
