A mystery donor has given the biggest donation so far to Luigi Mangione’s defense fund, inspired by the “quite exceptional” support for the man suspected of gunning down UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

The “anonymous giver” gave a staggering $36,500 earlier this week — topping the previous record of $30,000 as the total exploded to over $722,000.

The nameless benefactor said he or she was inspired by the huge swelling of support from a wide cross-section of people for the 26-year-old UPenn graduate charged with the shocking murder outside a Manhattan hotel in December.

Maybe his parents are not supporting him because the evidence is overwhelming.

That said, this could a very interesting trial. Would not be surprised if 1-2 jurors voted not guilty.

He’s got state and federal charges on it. It costs a lot for lawyers to defend against all that.

Well at least the heirs to his victim will have something they can take civilly.

Isn’t it against the rules of gofundme to raise money for someone who has been accused of a crime?

He has no assets of his home. He has multiple lawyers and his lead lawyer is most certainly not the public defender. If he’s paying his own legal bills he’d better get on the stick with the fundraising.$.75M isn’t going to cut it. I’d estimate he’s looking at a minimum of $3-4M in legal fees

From time to time, I desperately need to step away from FR, X, and other social media for awhile. Reading post upon post that exposes the mental derangement, the soulless evil, and the incomprehensible madness that lives in every part of this world often leaves me wondering if humanity can or should survive.

After he is found guilty, the money should be given to the victims family. This guy deserves the death penalty, and a public defender.
