Progressive America on display. You don’t own your home. Its a partnership with bloated and corrupt government.
We had a corrupt county clerk that was double billing people.....................
And I’m sure the government employees behind this are sharp as a tack which is why Pres. Trump is wrong about cutting the government work force ... riiiiiiiight!
Counties don’t tell you when you are delinquent because they make more money that way. They have auctions and people compete to pay your taxes and the county pays them interest. If you don’t pay for 3 years (in my state) you can lose the property to whoever has paid the taxes.
You sound like a troublemaker, most likely a Domestic Terrorist. What did you do, register to vote as a Republican? Maybe your ISP leaked a news aggregator site you posted to.
If it’s done right, the goobermint had nothing to do with it.
IF these authorities could be charged with Fraud as it should be then you would see and end to this kind of nonsense. But they are above the law.
A good percentage of people will just pay which encourages the fraud to continue.
Maybe they sicced AI on the records and got you (and probably others).
I’m still fighting the IRS saying I owed $6500 for unfiled taxes despite having the receipts and all the records. In the meantime. I was advised by my accountant to pay it and fight it later. Don’t ever expect to get the money back but it can keep you out of jail while some bureaucrat circle files your case. At best you can roll it over to another year’s taxes.
I actually used to get threatening call from “Maricopa county” to pay the taxes. It sounder very scary.
The problem, Maricopa county does not directly tax anybody. They get they money from share of state or city property taxes.
Obvious fraud!
Happened to a friend. Credit card statement indicated a payment was made. The wrong account was being credited with a payment. That was the problem. Either operator error or my friend. The issue was completely resolved after error.was discovered.
I hope your issue works out.
Santa Clara County? I’ll bet you went to your doctor’s office recently and refused to mask up. They reported you to the Assessor’s office as trouble maker and here you are! They have six ways from Sunday...
(I refused to mask up at Sutter Health in Palo Alto last week. The Director of the facility was called and told me “It’s a REQUIREMENT. No mask, no see doctor. And pull it over your nose, too!). FIVE YEARS of this crap!
Gov’t workers...when they actually work cause more problems than when they are just being lazy.
Unsolicited free advice:
Even though your brother is going to meet someone at the County personally, write a letter that describes the notice you received. This scares clerks to death, because they see that you are organized and they can’t just shine you on. Letter should identify the date, your parcel numbers, the owners, the amounts, etc., and the fact that you most certainly DID pay all the taxes referenced in the delinquency notice on a timely basis. Refer to, and
attach, copies of the notice, the proof and your cancelled checks. Write “Hand-delivered on (date)” on head of the letter. Make a place for “Received by:___, and “Date:______” on the foot of the letter. Have whomever your brother speaks with sign a copy that he will keep. Request a copy of some sort of your tax account with PAID IN FULL stamped on it with their treasurer’s stamp.
Telling the clerk: “Hi, I need your help. I received this tax delinquency notice for taxes that I know were paid on a timely basis, and I’m worried to death that some scammer is trying to cheat us out of our home. I wrote down the facts in this letter so I wouldn’t forget anything. After the clerk looks at the letter, ask, “Can you give me some sort of receipt that acknowledges that our account is paid in full?”
In my experience, asking bureaucrats to help you flatters them and they’ll fall all over themselves doing so. Start off angry or laying blame, and they’ll dig in their heels to show you who’s boss. Handing them the letter and proof before discussing much prevents them from saying crap their ego will not want to retract, even after they know you are right.
They found out you are a Freeper...
Even if there was a tax delinquency, those would have been paid at the time it closed escrow.
Good luck proving your case.
