It's Russia that may now be feeling the pressure
BBC News ^ | 3/11/2025 | Paul Adams

As US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says, "the ball is now in Russia's court." This is a significant moment.

The joint statement from the US and Ukraine, after a long day of talks in Jeddah, contains several key lines, perhaps none more important than this: "The United States will communicate to Russia that Russian reciprocity is the key to achieving peace."

We've heard a lot, in recent weeks, about what Donald Trump expects from Ukraine and what sort of blunt instruments the White House is used to bend Kyiv to its will.

Now, it seems, it's time for Russia's intentions to be tested, in public.

But Trump is his puppet, why would he feel any pressure? These idiots can’t even keep their own stories straight.

There is no pressure on Russia. They are not the ones begging for a deal. Ukraine is on the ropes, and we badly want to stop paying and start the rebuilding Ukraine grift.

This deal is very one sided in the direction of Ukraine. This is why the Russians will not agree to this 30 day interim cease fire. The minute the ink is dry, the Brits, French, Poles and god knows who else will flood into Ukraine with “peacekeepers”. NATO warplanes will fill the skies and Uke bases, etc etc.

Then the Ukes basically have defacto NATO status. They can do anything they want then and Russia cannot respond without killing NATO people scattered all over Ukraine in big numbers. Then the Ukes can start their terror campaign of occasional SBU assassination bombings, deniable sabotage, etc.. OR the EU can officially confiscate the hundreds of billions of seized Russian gold and currency, or announce Ukraine is officially in NATO one morning, and Russia is powerless to respond.

And Russia is supposed to sign up to that in return for nothing in return?

That is why this 30 day cease fire is going nowhere probably. If Trump gets Russia to agree to this ceasefire on those terms that are 90% favorable to Ukraine, he truly is the greatest negotiator in history. It’s gonna be interesting to see this unfold.

May not be much pressure on Russia, though I disagree, but there is a lot of pressure on putin.
Anything less than control of all annexed territories means his end.

Russians will indeed accept suffering, but they don’t accept defeat.

Well played President Trump, put the ball in putins corner knowing he can’t accept.

Does Russia always want to be a Pariah State? I doubt it. You aren’t going to get far when you only allies are North Korea and Iran, and China is just there waiting for their moment to strike against Russia.

You’re right. The Russians will not accept nothing less than victory.

They will however, accept a conditional surrender.

It is the BBC’s home country that is feeling the pressure. They have wanted a war with Russia, as evidenced by their rethoric and actions, for over the last 170 years. The Brit’s are ruled by essentially the same few families with the same desires, and seemingly repeated outcomes.

The Brit’s are going to be in a recession the like’s of 1929; 2007 never really went away, and they are overextended financially thru the Brit banking system in Ukraine.

Biden and NATO never thought Putin would beat them and still be running his country as the globalism was defeated on the destroyed careers of a generation of EUropean politicians... and the corpse of the American DNC which imploded over Ukraine, LITERALLY.

I guess we will see. But it seems that any temp ceasefire + Brit and Frog peacekeepers, is structurally guaranteed to be permanent.

Surely the Russian chess playing nation will see that, and see they have no incentive to sign, that this ceasefire IS the final version and all their negotiating power vanishes the day they sign it.

Guess we’ll see.

The pressure on Putin is that people think he is FAR too kid gloves on the Ukes and they want someone to unleash their full power.

Few here realize that any replacement would be a serious hardliner. Our DC/London axis morons still think they can install a WEF/Ivy educated Russian, or some Navalny type who will do whatever the western bankers want.

Putin is screwed if he doesn’t accept President Trump’s ceasefire deal on Thursday.

Yes, the Brit’s and Frenchies’ are chomping at the bit to make their troops officially on the ground so they can avenge the several thousand American, British, French, Candanian, along with the 30,000 Polish soldiers that showed up under all sorts of contracts, uniforms and waivered duty status.

The Brits and French hope a war with Russia will take their populations eye of the recession they are now longer able to keep the lid on. They also seek to avenge their lost country the Russia has routinely destroyed in missile strikes.

Every time you see a publication from England or one quoting Ukrainian figures... you are getting the same propoganda which both countries have coordinated throughout the conflict.

Britian is the major western source of BS about Ukraine and Russia. Take nothing knowing if you fact check it beyond the Great Western Firewall, you will find in India or other countries a reported set of facts more accurate, essentially exposing the opposite narrative of the Brits.
\
Trump is fed up with Brit’s, and he now understand America’s Special Relation with England is something totally foreign when it was, before 6 weeks ago, AmeriKa and Britain. It ain’t the Special Relationship it once was. These Brits are headed politically for the dust bin of history as Trump resets the political landscape in the West.

Putin, Lavrov, and Peskov have all said a hundred times they won't accept European peacekeepers in Ukraine, and I believe them. If that's the case, they'll just continue the war.

As far as I can tell, the original four objectives of the SMO remain intact:

1. Neutralization of Ukraine
2. Demilitarization of Ukraine
3. Liberation of Russian-speaking areas in Ukraine.
4. De-Nazification of Ukraine

For Russia, the presence of British and French troops in post-war Ukraine means the war was a failure. It would be a serious violation of objective #1.

How is Ukraine losing territory now occupied by Russia in any deal a 90-10 % in favor of Ukraine?

How much are you being paid? Are you worried about whether you’ll get your next paycheck now that the anti-American USAID dollars are drying up?

FR is making too much of this.

Historically, ceasefire agreements are negotiated.

And that will be Lavrov’s response — We appreciate President Trump’s efforts and we praise this latest announcement as an excellent start to ceasefire negotiations. We look forward to meeting with President Trump’s team to continue those negotiations.
