WNBA player Angel Reese ignited a social media firestorm after claiming players are prepared to sit out games to demand higher salaries during her podcast Friday.
Reese and fellow WNBA player DiJonai Carrington addressed the next WNBA collective bargaining agreement.
"I've got to get in the meetings because I'm hearing like, 'If y'all don't give us what we want, we sitting out,'" Reese said.
Carrington added, "That's a possibility."
Reese has griped about her financial situation in the past.
"The WNBA don't pay my bills at all. I don't even think it pays one of my bills. Literally," Reese said.
Reese's comments incited heated debate on social media about a WNBA player strike resulting in higher salaries. The WNBA has never turned a profit in its existence and has been subsidized by the NBA.
Reese got in on the discussion when she called out conservative influencer AKA on X for a post that Reese said falsely claimed she demanded to be paid as much as NBA players.

The only entertaining thing about the WNBA is watching Angel Reese commit traveling violations and double dribble without being called for it.
The irony is that they got good ratings (for them) because of that girl they hated so much, beat on and disrespected constantly and now they want a paycheck because they think it’s because of them. Hah! Pretty funny.

Try to keep up....Clark drew the second highest TV ratings for a women’s college game this year just by sitting in the stands....her jersey retirement game where Iowa played USC was the second highest viewed game of the year...The Fever preseason exhibition game against the Brazilian national team in Iowa City sold out in 30 minutes.....now...go try to get a ticket for any Fever game...home or away and tell me what the tickets are selling for. ONE player deserves more money....and it isn’t Reese . Clark’s popularity hasn’t waned at all...much to your chagrin it seems ....
