I feel the same way as you plus I am sort of biased since I have a large unsightly birthmark on my abdomen that I have always hated,

The past few years, it has faded a bit.

I didn’t ask for it.

I had a friend who was Guamanian - therefore Polynesian. He had a tribe tattoo, clan tattoo & family tattoo. In his case it made sense.

Sounds like it was a cultural custom. That's different than getting a tattoo because some celebrity you saw had one.

I used to work with a guy who spent a couple years in the Army mostly on the DMZ in Korea.
He had three tattoos on each arm(shoulder, bicep, forearm).
He never wore short sleeve shirts because he was embarrassed. Said he got them when he was drunk.
Eventually he had both tats on his forearms removed.
Said it hurt like crazy.

Too bad. Sometimes we , ourselves,, are our worst enemies. I am speaking for myself, also.

Coming: In California, under Prop 65, the tattoo artist will be required to tattoo a small cancer warning label next to the main tattoo.

For an old man, I’m something of a gym rat.

I’m quite taken back by all the young women who have vandalized their bodies with ugly meaningless tattoos. It’s rare in the gym to see a woman under 40 without them today.

Piercings are also quite common. Don’t mind them quite as much. At least they’re removable. And unlike tattoos, the wounds will usually heal if allowed to do so.

Yes. Old testament stuff. So imagine the double whammy of a Jew forcibly tattooed. As I said, it made a deep impression on me.

They're all pikers. Go big like Paul Karason, who tattooed himself from the inside out by drinking a homemade colloidal silver treatment as well as putting silver on his skin, or go home.

“Tattoos are also banned in the Bible. God hates them.”

If you read the prohibition on tattoos in Leviticus, they are forbidden expressly to memorialize the dead, as ancestor worship.

Not doubting that tattoos are not healthy but it's also a marker for other poor lifestyle choices.

Got a tatoo in Berlin,
and a case of the Krebs,
a rose and a dagger,
on the palm of my hand,
and i’ll search the world over,
for my angel in black,...
