NO TAX ON TIPS.
NO TAX ON OVERTIME.
NO TAX ON SENIORS' SOCIAL SECURITY.

Happy Libertarian :)
If that’s not government taking its hands off people’s business, I don’t know what is!
The real question should be, “ how does a public employee, working FULL TIME also have enough time to work and GET $150,000 in OT?????
Follow on question, WHY does this usually happen the last 3 years BEFORE they retire when their HIGH THREE YEARS are calculated for their pension????
Income tax should be eliminated. The concept of income tax is not in the constitution. Democrats dreamed that up after their first world war.
It is considered reportable income.
Amendment XVI is most definitely in the Constitution. Has been since 1913.
good question and one reason overtime should be taxed....social security and tips i understand but overtime ???

Read the Sixteenth Amendment.
“ARTICLE XVI. The Congress shall have the power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.”
As a CPA that has represented many restaurants in IRS audits over the years, the “No Tax on Tips” is wide open to abuse.
Most restaurants use the tips added to paid wages to meet the state and Federal minimum wage requirements.
Keep in mind that most tips are on credit cards where the employer pays for credit card processing fees and must pay the tips to the employee.
Do tips then not count toward Social Security earnings?
For unemployment and workman’s comp?
Can owners of restaurants get tax free tips if they wait on tables? Many do this especially in small mom and pop restaurants.
What about large groups where the gratuity is added automatically?
What about non restaurant tipped employees? My tax prep fee is $5. Thank you for the $400 tip. 😁
I feel this is wide open to abuse and unconsidered consequences.
Unless we use a flat tax or fair tax, there will always be the people who don’t pay taxes falling for the political charlatans vowing to raise taxes on the other people. This idea of no taxes on tips seems to be a new wedge that can divide us further.
Republicans are cowards. I’ll believe it when I see it.
And i will clear that up for you. The 16 amendment was added in 1913. So taxes on income was never intended until the democrats said we needed them.
I’m sorry, the original as the founders conceived of our nation. The 16th was brought to you by democrats to fund wars.

Three points to clear things up for you.
First, since the sixteenth amendment was approved, the income tax is Constitutional.
Second, the amendment passed Congress in a vote of 318–14 clearly a bi-partisan vote.
Third, it was ratified by 36 states, clearly bi-partisan support.
“Should a public employee with $150,000 in overtime in 2026 pay no federal income tax on that?”
Public employees shouldn’t get overtime. They need to be salaried employees. If they want to work overtime, they can take a Friday off.
How about no more low interest SBA minority loans to Indians to buy up rural gas stations and hotels?
You know who gets a lot of overtime?..govt workers...there was a reason all those NYC firemen and policemen got $200,000 p3nsions after the twin towers.....
There are alot of jobs that are hard to fill (fireman, police officer). Overtime is the only way to make sure positions are adequately filled. Would hate to have a fire and not have the man power to put it out. Would hate to have an emergency and no officers to respond. Massive over time is not ideal...but the only way.
Flat Tax
I agree with you. If I tip someone for service, I consider it a gift of thanks that should be no one else's business.
You sound like Thomas Jefferson.
And that’s a big compliment.
