Whales are too big to get tangled in a lobster pot.
That’s because lobster was so plentiful then it was considered ‘cheap’ food for poor people and institutions like prisons.
Exactly. Lobsters are crustaceans.
Most species anyways.
Good. Sue the bass turds for everything they’ve got.

And I bet not a peep out of scrambled brain losers in regards to the offshore windmill construction killing whales and other wildlife. screw them.
This is along post but this thread set me off!
Years back here on FR I started looking at 501(C)3’s. Back then there were about 550,000 nonprofits. The IRS filing for these entities is called a 990. I started reading them and quickly discovered that the US nonprofit corporation laws are a joke. Many of the so-called “nonprofits” are nothing more than entities that work to mess up or destroy money making entities (like the one being sued here) or they are in business to push their own politics (Media Matters / Soros).
I learned that in countries like Mexico basically the only nonprofits operating in Mexico are American nonprofits. If you go back many years it was groups like the Catholic Charities who went in to Mexico and taught Mexicans that if they could get to the states they would get free stuff. It’s the American nonprofits that started illegal immigration. Today, such entities like The Catholic Charities make big money off “helping” illegals get government benefits. Other “charities” like UnidosUS (formally La Raza) make millions off assisting illegals in obtaining US government benefits.
This thread is a FANTASTIC example of why we need to totally scrap the 501/NGO/Charity or whatever you want to call it laws in the US and start over. As I have been saying for almost 20 years, the only “charities” or entities that should be free from paying income tax are organizations that are churches or they provide food, clothing, housing or medical assistance to humans.
The fact that these lobster fishermen can sue a 501 is something that should happen all the time. If the Sierra Club messes with loggers - let them sue! It’s outrageous that entities that pay zero taxes and get all sorts of benefits like reduced postage costs, etc. can trash actual companies that are doing capitalism.
As I said, this is a FANTASTIC example of what’s wrong. All you have to do is read the IRS 990 on this Monterey Bay Aquarium 501. Here it is:
This is for year 2021. They had $643,593,112.00 in assets. They received $10,239,837 in government funding. If you go to page 7 and look at compensation you will see that this entity that pays zero federal taxes pays its handlers a mint. $350,000.00 or so for the big wigs. Some of who I would bet work for more than one “charity”.
Someone ping Elon Musk! The data is public record and it’s something that should be analyzed 10 ways from Sunday. The main thing is that these “charities” should not be able to trash capitalistic companies while not generating a penny for the public. It’s either that or let’s agree that no corporation of any kind should pay federal income taxes. Those taxes just get added to the cost of goods and services.
Sorry for the long rant but I have studied this for many years and it stinks!!! Hell, ever read a Consumer Reports magazine? They are a frigging nonprofit!

You can go here and look at all sorts of these outfits. Hit this link and enter “Catholic Charities”.

The American taxpayer is getting ripped off for 100’s of billions of dollars!
It’s a very small whale.
It was the ropes and bouts used to haul the traps. Regardless they aren’t and we’re never a threat to the right whale. Those massive windmills are however.
I mistyped this:
Many of the so-called “nonprofits” are nothing more than entities that work to mess up or destroy money making entities (like the one being sued here) or they are in business to push their own politics (Media Matters / Soros).
It should have read “like the one suing here”, nor “being sued”.
Heh, it is funny, but...yep! So true!
I guess too much of anything makes us tired of it.
I keep that in mind when I really like something!

Are you referring to the lobster men or the media?
My grandmother worked in a candy store when she was young. She said you get tired of even the smell of it.
Fortunately, I’m not a big fan of much that’s really expensive, like steak and lobster; but I do like (cheap) ‘caviar’ :-)
sweet and as we learned from Trump, if they environmental group claim they are innocent they can be sued again for 100 times more!
Which does not conserve a blooming thing. It just trawls for tax payer money.
Get them for false advertising as well.
I have eaten enough lobster, King Crab is my ultimate but too expensive. I liked the Deadliest Catch TV show.
“Are you referring to the lobster men or the media?”
Apparently I need to make this more obvious....
