A BlackRock-led consortium has agreed a $22.8 billion deal to buy two major Panama Canal ports owned by a Hong Kong-based conglomerate following intense pressure from US President Donald Trump over alleged Chinese interference in the critical trade route.
The sale is a victory for Trump, the Financial Times noted. The president had repeatedly suggested the US could take the Canal back, citing national security concerns: The waterway is controlled by Panama, but the ports at either end are privately owned. This deal brings two at either entry to the Canal under US ownership.
The BlackRock-led group will acquire a 90% stake in current owner CK Hutchison’s subsidiary that operates the two ports, according to a BlackRock statement Tuesday.
Another win
But its Blackrock! Yikes.
ships will have to declare their pronouns
People should look into Black Rock a bit more and find out what they're really about. Lotsa old fake news a while back.
I really don’t feel like this is win.
Excellent.
I think Trump now owns Larry Fink (CEO-BlackRock)
Maybe Trump showed Larry his Epstein file
(Bravo, Blackrock.)
Don’t forget Blackrock had the two attempted Trump assassins in their commercials.
Blackrock picks actors in commercials??
You can’t get any worst than Blackrock ,LOL
Arms length transaction. This just confirms that Blackrock and China are in bed together.
From Chinese oligarch hands, into American oligarch hands
Still a win, I suppose.
I’m not at all sure this is a win. Black rock is not known for its stellar or patriotic reputation.
Tomorrow’s headline: China Buys Black Rock
“Blackrock picks actors in commercials??”
Yep, they sure did. This is NOT a good thing. BlackRock is Trump’s worst most powerful enemy. Even more so than China.
Larry Fink is a personal friend of Trump.
Ships will always be she to me.
