The Kremlin said in remarks published on Tuesday that the next round of Russia-U.S. talks on ending the war in Ukraine is unlikely to happen before the embassies of both countries resume normal operations.

"Unlikely," Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of President Vladimir Putin, told RIA state news agency in response to a question whether the negotiations could start before the two countries' embassies fully reopen. Operations have been curtailed since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022.

Last week, Russia said it was sending a new ambassador to Washington, the latest sign of a thaw between the two countries, but it remains unclear when the full work of both embassies will resume.

Peskov also told RIA that it was too early say where the next round of talks between Russia and the United States might take place.

Boy, did Braindead Joe and his handlers F things up big time. Between the Russia hoax and greenlighting the invasion of Ukraine they sure hamstring Trump with a foreign nightmare. I bet Trump would rather be concentrating on fixing domestic problems that is another legacy of these commie bastards.

Trump will fix it—but it will not be easy. I have faith in him and his skill as a deal maker. But, he has an army of corruption and greed to overcome. Goal, tar Trump as the man who Lost Ukraine and killed NATO—to impeach him once the Democrat-Progressives return to power.

Trump just extended the sanction for 1 year to show his willingness to distance from Kremlin so I can understand that Kremlin doesn’t want to talk before the sanction is lifted.

This is a standard negotiating tactic. It's akin to telling someone interested in buying your truck, "I really love my truck. I might sell it under certain conditions, but I’m not really looking to part with it."

In negotiations, this tactic is known as "reluctant seller" or "conditional commitment." It falls under the broader strategy of "anchoring" and "playing hard to get."

By resisting Trump, The Euros are actually sending a message of weakness to Russia. Perhaps Russia will decide that peace is not in their best interest and they will wait for The West to continue to fracture instead then take all of Ukraine. The law of unintended consequences or are they? Leave it our communist “allies” to work against their own country’s best interests. Anything to get Trump I guess.

Sanctions is Trump's only "trump" card in an otherwise weak hand. It wouldn't have made any sense to play that card now.

The extension had already happened the day before the White House meeting.

Putin trying to play us now. He doesn’t want to cease fire, not even a pause. Zelenskyy may be an idiot when it comes to relations, but Putin is anything but a saint.
