The Chinese are WAY better than we give them credit for. Our obsessions with bureaucracy, DEI and the environment mean we can't get anything done. Meanwhile, the Chinese have leapt ahead. Terrifying stuff.
So stay home and panic if that works for you :)
Trump has been in office for 6 weeks. Chill :)
The problem was that China was ‘good business’ while they were rocketing past us economically - they were cheap, high quality, and reliable. The Republicans LOVED that.
We had labor unions, and the people they enabled, the Democrats, who always HATED the idea that we were king of the hill. They succeeded.
We never had a chance.
In a mandatory 1-party government, DEI doesn’t get the elites more votes.
China appears to have passed us. And appearances can be deceiving. Almost nothing you hear about China is true, if it’s being said by the Chinese themselves. China only cares about appearances, not substance. This can be seen in the lack of quality in their products. It can also be seen in their “tofu dreg” construction, which looks great...for about 5 minutes. Much of what you see or hear about China is a lie.
CC
Chinese propaganda.
China is sinking. Nothing works, everything is faked.
Since the end of the Cold War, our elite has focused on padding their wallets at public expense and making money via labor arbitrage impoverishing Americans while strangling US resource extraction and industry with taxes and regulation.
It's hard to think how we would have suffered more economically at least than if we had been occupied by a hostile foreign power.
Anyone who thinks DEI was only for the benefit of incompetent people is missing how democrat 'elites' operate. Let's just say 'smoke screen and useful idiot diversion'....
Where did they get their:
- Microprocessors?
- Operating systems?
- Networking equipment?
- Knowledge of computer science?
- Knowledge of AI?
- Foundation for their AI work?
- etc.
Sure, they borrow and copy to catch up....then do a +1. I’m still yet to see anything fundamentally new coming from China.
Their propaganda is also at full throttle. I just saw a claim of them creating a jet engine capable of Mach 16....where the photo showed a technician 3 feet from the intake. I saw another about a fusion reactor being ‘way ahead’...turned out to be nothing new.
Anything about China should be met with scrutiny.
“I’m still yet to see anything fundamentally new coming from China.”
Correct.
The problem is that they have been industrializing while we have been de-industrializing.
Stealing our stuff works in that environment.

We invent the widget.
They steal the invention.
We build five widgets.
They build ten widgets.
Sure...they are stealing too, have been for a while. I’ve seen businesses fail because their IP became publicly available (stolen and published online) in China.
That said, there’s many good *people* in China...but we need to restrict our highest tech from being freely available, they don’t respect intellectual property law while benefitting from it.
China “high quality”? lol
“China “high quality”? lol”
I guess the difference is that I own a phone, and it’s made in China, and it works, perfectly.
You might want to catch up with the times a bit too.
Define “perfectly”. Lots of things work “perfectly” when they are new; it’s the longevity that’s the matter.
“...it’s the longevity that’s the matter.”
Almost 3 years now...works like new, battery is strong.
Hating China, which I share with you, does not mean their products suck, not by a long shot, particularly given we cannot even produce anything that can compete against them in many cases.
Oh, three years. Thanks for being clear at least.
And it’s not the case that we can’t produce things that can compete against them. If that were true, then no other country could.
