US faces multi-day weather threat with severe thunderstorms, winds and possible tornadoes

Tens of millions of people across the U.S. from the Plains to the Southeast are preparing for a potential multi-day severe weather outbreak this week, with forecasters warning of threats of large hail, damaging wind gusts and even some strong tornadoes.

Strong thunderstorms rolled across Oklahoma and Texas to end the weekend on Sunday, but the FOX Forecast Center said the more significant severe weather threat will begin late Monday and last through at least Wednesday.

The FOX Forecast Center said computer forecast models are highly confident that ingredients will come together to produce a widespread severe weather event.

This includes a strong area of low pressure developing in the Plains, which will then pull in warm and humid air from the Gulf.

That will provide the atmospheric energy needed for storms to develop and strengthen.

In addition, forecasters are concerned that strong winds aloft moving over the air mass will provide ample wind shear – the change in wind speed and direction with height – to allow for those storms to rotate.

I’d say this is consistent with the prior 70 March’s I have lived through.

Yep. The "...in like a lion, out like a lamb" proverb about March weather has been around since (at least) the early 1700s for a good reason.

Nothing a few more regulations and a tax increase couldn’t fix.

Oh, quit being such a blithering idiot. It is called spring, and it is acomin.
I recall an Easter in StLouis. Sudden rapid warming, no snow left on the ground. Tornadoes all over the place.

That was 50 years ago. Way earlier than all the crappola about global warming.

It is called weather. Clutch yer little pearls and calm down.

I’ve been praying Pfizer would come up with a vaccine to ward off this terrible climate change mass murder about to take place. I mean, jeeze, thunderstorms, winds and possible tornatoes - I just can’t take it anymore.

If people don’t get warned and one hits, they stand a much higher chance of dying.

The sirens here are less than 100 yards from my house, A good thing for my tiny town (especially during OK's second tornado season in October). Those things could wake the dead. Having a cellar is something else I'm thankful for.

Spring time is always a crap shoot.

Here in SE Texas we get tornados but not the monsters that prowl the central plains.

I remember getting hit with an ice storm on Easter Sunday years ago. We were stuck at my grandparents until Monday afternoon.
